Visit the Civil War Museum. Go to Point of Honor in Lynchburg. Go to County Line Flea Market, as well. Go to Putt-Putt Fun Center, as well. Eat at Depot Grille, Bootleggers, and Iceland's. Visit the visitor center and downtown, as well.

Appomattox is in the middle of Virginia.
Appomattox is in the middle of Virginia. It is a bit of a drive to get there but the scenic ride is worth the effort. The National Park is well designed and visiting there is a nice way to spend an afternoon. The history, as told by the park staff, is so illuminating. It is a small town so all you need is one full day to see the park and museums. The Babcock house is wonderfully comfortable place to stay and enjoy delicious breakfasts!

My main goal was to see the appamottx historical park and other civil war interests. Which I enjoyed on my short time there, hope to return Unless I missed something, historic downtown didn’t have much to see or shop, which I do understand in today’s world!

The Appomattox Courthouse National Park is worth seeing.
The Appomattox Courthouse National Park is worth seeing. The movie gives a good overview of the events that took place to end the war. The Park Rangers have good information available and are willing to answer any questions.

Longacre of Appomattox made the trip worth the stay.
Longacre of Appomattox made the trip worth the stay. Good restaurants are hard to find and the town in places looks rundown. However, it is an historic place. Appomattox Courthouse is the place that ended the Civil War and films shown at the Courthouse visitors center could move you. The humanity General Grant displayed in accepting General Lee’s surrender was stunning.

This is a beautiful bed and breakfast, hosted by the owners in the historic town of Appomattox. The house is lovely, a beautifully renovated home in the vernacular of the area in the 1800s. The food was excellent as one of the owners is an accomplished chef. This is definitely worth a stop!

Location was great - close to the Park at Appomattox - reason for visiting. Breakfast was good - lot of choices and food was warm. The "cook" does a great job. The staff were friendly and very helpful.

Room 224 had an ant infestation. We didn’t bother to report it because the entire hotel was visibly booked the entire weekend. I wouldn’t recommend staying at the Appomattox Inn & Suites.
