    Bardstown is a hidden Gem.

Bardstown is a hidden Gem. So many great shops, restaurants & bars. Very walkable & safe. We found great German food at Kreso's on 3rd st. Authentic European cuisine. The best I've had stateside. For drinks, the go to is a bar called The Volstead. Styled as a speakeasy, they claim to have about 1200 varieties of liquor. Their specialty drinks are GREAT. Many interesting shops of all kinds. Looking forward to another trip soon!

Bardstown is a neat historic town with much to see. Lots of little shops and restaurants to explore. We did not have time to check everything out that we wanted to so we will be making another trip back to visit.

The location was perfect for us.

The location was perfect for us. We did tours of Makers Mark and Jim Beem distilleries, both were about 30 minutes away. We also enjoyed the town and the shops. Everything was very easy to walk to. We had great food at Bardstown Burgers, Kresos and Big Wally's ice cream. There are many nice shops to visit, we especially liked the Gallery on the Square, it was a nice art gallery. Evergreen liquor store had great prices and very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Close by attractions mainly focus on the many many distillers in the area. We toured Wild Turkey which was very nice. My take is if you've seen one, the others are the same. Would like to have stayed another day for the civil war "museum" which is mostly outside. Went to an "antique" building - nothing antique about it - mostly modern (95%) crafts. For eating not too many restaurants with variety - but some big chains like Cracker Barrel. Navigation around town is easy and a nice pace. Great walking area around down town. Prices in downtown are a bit ridiculous - most t-shirts or sweatshirts start at 40 and go up. One shop had a baseball cap for 40.00 and a denim dress my wife liked but it was 265.00 - needless to say she didn't get it. Very friendly people in the town. The entire region is focused on bourbon. I'm glad I went but would like a few different more subjects in the area. Even something as simple as true antiques or at least collectables. For an area steeped in bourbon, I know the barrels are in high demand yet you couldn't find one for sale. The trash cans around town were made of the barrels and those were bolted to the curb. My take is what ever the market will bare. Apparently it works for them because they are still in business. Glad I went but will not be a repeat customer.

Bardstown is a quaint little town, beautiful old historic homes, the fall scenery was just stunning.... downtown was very nice but beware there is very little parking downtown, be prepared to walk.... visiting Mammys restaurant is a must for down home kentucky cooking! The Old Talbott in was a nice visit to see the oldest bourbon bar in the world! Food wasn't the best but atmosphere was great! The Rickhouse restaurant is a cozy upscale restaurant hidden away but so worth the visit!

The staff was very friendly, and the bourbon selection in the hotel bar was outstanding. The upstairs patio was a very relaxing place to sip bourbon, relax, and chat. The location was perfect for walking access to good food, good drink, and a area in the adjacent neighborhood to run.
