We stayed in Carbondale because it was close to Marble, Colorado where we planned to ride ATVs on Scholfield Pass. This ride goes by one of the most photographed locations in Colorado. The Crystal City Mill. It's a 4 Wheel drive road only so don't plan on driving your car or SUV on this road. https://www.uncovercolorado.com/activities/schofield-pass/. Great area for historical locations like Doc Holiday in Glenwood Springs, Coke Ovens in Redstone, and a working marble quarry in Marble, Colorado. There were a lot of local restaurant options. City Market closes at 9 pm, so get your food items from there earlier. I was there to ski at Ski Sunlight so didn't have much time to explore. The hiking across the highway 82 at Red Hill was great and a workout. There are paths through the town that I walked my dog on, also nice. I went to La Fogata across the street from Days Inn, but they did not understand I was trying to order two tacos and yucca fries and instead gave me two large meals (no prices listed either).
