    The food and music festival was so enjoyable that we plan to return. Their State fair is well worth a visit. We enjoyed The High Life Lounge which shares space with El Bait Shop for the friendly service, comfort food and expansive beer options and will return on our next trip.

    Des Moines, Iowa might just be the cleanest city we’ve ever...

    Des Moines, Iowa might just be the cleanest city we’ve ever stepped foot in—like someone hit the whole place with Windex and a giant mop. We wandered through downtown, dodging packs of fit folks on their celebratory struts for the National Senior Olympics. The river looked like it had one too many and spilled over its dams, flooding the lower walkway. Zombie Burger was a certified hangout spot, and the sculpture garden? A few unexpected gems made it well worth the stroll.

    Des Moines is a great stop-over city.

    Des Moines is a great stop-over city. If you're traveling and need to rest, stop in Des Moines for a few days. You will find great restaurants and a relaxed atmosphere. My favorite time to visit is in the summer. The Capitol Building and grounds are beautiful and historical (of course). Visitors are welcome inside. The Living History Farm and the Blank Park Zoo are fun outings with the kids. The Iowa State Fair in August cannot be beat! Shuttles from the Capitol parking make it easy with drop off at the fairground gates. Tempt your tastebuds with anything fried on a stick! ;-)

    It was a two-day business trip, and I intended to be austere. I did not engage with the community; however, from personal trips to Des Moines, I know that there are many family friendly things to do and to enjoy, especially in the non-winter seasons. It is easy to travel within Des Moines.

    Went to graduation at the Wells Fargo Arena.

    Went to graduation at the Wells Fargo Arena. The view of the bridge on the Riverwalk on the Des Moines River and dam lit up at night was awesome. So was the state capitol in the background. Felt very safe there. Biaggii's Italian Restaurant was superb. Our waiter Alan was very efficient and had a great memory for our size table. The Lobster Bisque, chocolate cake, mini sundaes, bread... everything. Just try it.

    This hotel is unfortunately one I would never use again....

    This hotel is unfortunately one I would never use again.... My friends and I had planned a trip to see basketball we live in the UK. I made a mistake and put in the wrong Arena on Booking.com and this hotel came up. I booked two rooms and when we put in the zip code it was 1,000 miles away!!! I contacted booking.com literally 3 minutes after booking who contacted the hotel on my behalf and they refused to answer me or booking.com. I lost £270.00. Moral of the story they were in their rights to take the money but the fact they ignored both me and booking.com says a lot about the company greed. Enjoy spending my money..

    Very pleasant hotel with a relatively small bathroom with no bath but a good shower. beds were comfortable, The restauranr (cafe) was disappointing for an evening meal so we went out, breakfast was provided in the cafe but very easy to order paid extras, food was good. Good bar, and a very interesting pool area in the center aof the complex, with the rooms looking out on to it. (not all)
