    Fresno is a city of about 156,000, mostly laid out in large squares. Plenty of restaurants to choose from, but a bit difficult to find healthy food. Highways cross the city, but it was pretty easy to get around. The downtown area needs cleaning up, as it is old and many places need attention. We only slept and ate there, as we spent all our time in the national parks. The airport is lovely, though, with large faux sequoias and cedars. Only 16 gates, so it's not a lot of walking.

    Fresno is pretty underrated, most folks pass through on the way to Yosemite. We were here to attend graduation at Valdez center. Next door there were folks going to a wrestling event. There's great South East Asian and Mexican food throughout town, farmers markets' with local grown items, prices are more reasonable than in bigger cities, a nightlife scene that was bustling with young people- while as adults we enjoyed a speakeasy after a delicious Lao dinner. If you like shopping there are a lot of retail stores and thrift shops. When we have more time we'd like to check out some historical places, gardens, and eat more local food.

    Fresno is a great city.

    Fresno is a great city. It's not overwhelming and you can move around the city in good time. There are many interesting sights and a lot of good restaurants of all types. There are also many excellent local stores like Fresno Ag Hardware and Gazebo Gardens. It feels like a small town, but there is a lot to do here.

    My daughter and I, and her 4 grandchildren, ages 6, 7, 8 &...

    My daughter and I, and her 4 grandchildren, ages 6, 7, 8 & 12 drove from Bakersfield to Fresno to visit the Zoo and go to Playland which is across from the zoo. I highly recommend both. It was extremely hot on the two days we were there, but the kids really had a great time, and that is what matters.

    Not too much to do in the area.

    Not too much to do in the area. We actually went to Yosemite National Park & was staying at Angel's Camp. We flew into Fresno; had an early morning flight so stayed in Fresno the night before we left.

    I stayed at the Fairfield for the first time.

    I stayed at the Fairfield for the first time. When I was going to arrive early I called the property and they said my room was all ready and I could come in anytime. That was great because I was going to have surgery and I had no idea when I be able to arrive. This hotel very close to where I was having surgery. There’s restaurants very close. The hotel lobby was clean. They had breakfast. My room was very nice and clean. I will definitely be staying here again on my next trip.

    Staff were polite and professional. The room was clean and secure. The beds were comfortable and the sheets and pillow cases were clean. The aircon worked pretty well. The fridge was handy for cold drinks everyday. On our arrival in Fresno, we were told by locals that we knew, that this hotel can be noisy with ‘undesirables’ staying there and that they would have recommended someone else; however, we enjoyed our stay and there were no issues at all.

    Location was great for a trip to Yosemite, but also near diners and shops in Fresno. The room was spacious clean and comfortable. The bathroom facilities were great (no hairdryer in the room). Breakfast was basic but lovely and the staff were welcoming and accommodating.
