Breakfast was wonderful. Nice room, we had a Clawfoot bathtub. Room was off the Main St. with a large porch shared with two other rooms. It's a small town, so being off Main St. was not a loud busy situation. Encouraged conversation with neighbors and was very enjoyable. We hope to go again.

We love the room including the comfortable bed, the shower & well equipped bathroom, the decor and the atmosphere. The continental breakfast was great- especially the chocolate croissant, and we enjoyed the lovely dining area with the view of he lake. The manager/ staff was very nice. We also enjoyed the games room - had not played pool in years.

    This property was unsafe and misleading.

    This property was unsafe and misleading. Inside temperature reached nearly 90°F, making it impossible to stay, especially with children who suffered headaches immediately. The listing did not disclose the lack of AC, and the host only suggested “opening windows” instead of addressing the problem. We had to leave the same day, our trip was ruined, and the owner refused a refund despite video evidence. I have filed a formal complaint and will proceed with legal action if necessary.

    Julian is where all Southern Californians go for amazing...

    Julian is where all Southern Californians go for amazing apple Pie. And not to far down the road is San Isabel is Dudly's bread. Lots of gift shops in Julian, but I think it only has one antique shop left, and it has odd hours. Great bits of history also

    We loved staying at the Gold Rush Hotel.

    We loved staying at the Gold Rush Hotel. We actually got free breakfast every morning at this hotel. The other restaurants are really good too. Weather was cold, but we made the best of it. We did the Mining tour and even saw some wolves. Just a beautiful place to get away. I had fun shopping too.

    Julian is Julian, always has been a tourist trap and forever will be , as far as food in town it was high-priced and mediocre at best for what you get, And the Pies, well ok but not so good that a 8-inch pie should cost 20 bucks, and slices almost 8 bucks for a small wedge of a pie , any of the Julian Pie shops have the same Pies, and same prices , they are making 64 bucks out of one 8 inch pie so you know about how big the slices are , if you want good food that is not pricey , go to San Diego to Old Town , food is great there , food is good and reasonably priced

    We stay in Julian twice per year..once for my wife's...

    We stay in Julian twice per year..once for my wife's birthday and the other for our anniversary. It's our favorite destination when we need to get away from home for a few days. Wonderful town to visit with lots of friendly people.

    Julian is a easy drive from San Diego.

    Julian is a easy drive from San Diego. It is a nice, clean little mountain town. It has many shops with unique goods that you don't see many places. The one serious drawback is that there is only one go to sit-down restaurant. It is Italian. One major drawback is they do not accept reservations. However they do have a system using a Qcode in which you can be notified when your table will be ready in a specified time frame. Our wait was only about 1/2 hr notice of when our table for 6 was ready. Just don't sit by the front door. The cold wind is not pleasant each time the door opened. The door does not close by itself and most people didn't close it after entering.

    We enjoyed breakfast every morning. The staff was friendly and did their best to provide a nice start to the day. We liked the fresh fruit, yogurt, "overnight oatmeal" and baked goods. Coffees and tea were great and available anytime of the day (or night probably) that you might want to enjoy. Breakfast area had many books to look at; the views over the lake and mountain area were lovely. Lots of good hiking and walking areas so close by, plus the town of Julian is just a short and scenic drive away.

    It is right next to the main strip in Julian, which is great. The parking cost is very cheap and worth it. The room was small but they are historical so this is expected. It was a clean room, but the wifi was weak so don't expect to stream. This is expected in the country area. It was well maintained room and there is a hotel cat outside named mr.paws. The staff was wonderful and friendly.
