We were just passing through Mountain Home on the way to Oregon. I've been to this town before, and I like it. It's small but has some cool places to eat and have beer. The people are very nice.

It is reasonably close to a few reservoirs like Anderson Ranch Dam and CJ Strike Reservoir and a couple major rivers. Boise is about 40 miles further down the road. The city itself, unless I missed it someplace, only had about 2 blocks of local shops (construction downtown) and closer to freeway a Walmart. Some nicer hotels by the freeway that would probably be best to stay in - others in town are rather dilapidated. The Mountain Home Airforce Base is there on the outskirts. When we were there it was very hot (105 vs Pocatello at 90) very desert setting, little water, many homes looked like they needed water and refreshing.

I like these older hotels. They are made of cinder block so the noise insulation from neighboring rooms is very good. We arrived incredibly late but our host was VERY gracious in accommodating our check-in. The room was very well maintained with newer furniture. The microwave and mini fridge were an added bonus at this price point. The additional AC outlets provided in the alarm clock were well appreciated given the vintage of the hotel. Yes, I would stay again.

Appears to have been updated in recent past. Exceptionally done. Very clean. Great bed. Bathroom spa like in design. Friendly staff. Husband appreciated vehicle window washing station at entrance area. Very thoughtful. A made to order breakfast is provided at adjacent restaurant, Wingers. Much nicer than a continental hotel lobby styled offering.

My 3-day stay was beyond my expectations. The staff was very accommodating, and they have addressed my concerns accordingly.
Though Glens Ferry was my place of interest, I still find Hampton Inn & Suites at Mountain Home an ideal place to stay with good choices of restaurants and fast-food chains nearby for dinner.
Thank you very much.
