We love New York City.
We love New York City. A little bit groovy, a little bit grimy. Always something to see or explore or be a part of. The buildings, the people, the shopping, the parks, the architecture, the little individual districts and precincts. Its awesome. Do a few big ticket items (Central Park, Times Square, Broadway, 5th Ave, The Edge, Wall St) but get out and about too. Check out SoHo, The High Line, Battery Park, East Village, Roosevelt Island, Bronx & Harlem, Brooklyn...The list goes on and on. You wont get it all done in a week..or 2 weeks..You'll have to go back! Be prepared for a LOT of walking. I love, love, love this city!
I love, love, love this city! We went to a show at Madison Square Garden, which was exceptional. Our hotel was conveniently located to everything. Was not happy with all the homeless people there. Safety was an issue. The prices are out of line. I would say, is it worth going to some places such as M&M. $23 a pound for candy? Sorry I even bought a little. I can get them at home. I did love walking around, but it was so packed with people. Choose a time when the tourists are not as heavy. Due to the fact that I have a gluten allergy it was difficult to find places that had gluten free food. Of course we found 1 pizza place that had the most delicious GLUTEN free pizza. It was so awesome. We then had to go to places that we could have gone to at home. Would I go back, I'm not sure, it depends on if I felt safer this time. We did walk everywhere we went to. The theater Amsterdam was ok, but again because they can they charge prices for their food that was about 4xmore that the restaurants that we went to. The show was worth the price. Everything was excellent, specially location of the hotel if you want to visit Upper Manhattan. Hotel is just a right on Times Square corner and near Central Park, Intrepid museum, Rockfeller center and Empire state building. Only recomendation would be to upgrade breakfast, adding some scramblled eggs, bacon and typicall american pork sausages! That would really make a huge difference! The rooms are clean and spacious. The rain shower has it's own little room. Little perks like a toy, free water/coffee/tea in the lobby are a highlight. The best though is the roof!
