    Portland is a very nice, smaller community relative to nearby Corpus Christi, so it is characterized by less traffic and easy access to plenty of nearby shopping and restaurants. Portland also provides prompt access to Sunset Lake (between Portland and Corpus Christi), and Corpus Christi fun sites (e.g., CC Hooks Minor League Baseball at Whataburger Field, adjacent water park, north beach, padre island drive shopping area, numerous restaurants, large indoor mall (Padre-Staples Mall) and CC Trade Center (open weekends).

    This was an opportunity for us to explore the area.

    This was an opportunity for us to explore the area. We had driven by and always just wanted to see what was around in Portland, Tx. Nice fishing area that has a good number of stores, banks , fast food and restaurants nearby.

    I wish I could have stayed longer I really enjoy this place.

    I wish I could have stayed longer I really enjoy this place. Usually when I visit I do about a 45 min drive to Port Aransas and I go on charter boats and bay fish. Sometimes I just fish off the park there. Or if I don't want to drive far I just hang out at Corpus Christi and either chill on the beach or fish there. There are things to do. They have shops food places and much more.

    I have to correct that I said, “no ice machine” but in fact...

    I have to correct that I said, “no ice machine” but in fact they do have them. I do apologize for the misinformation. They only complaint was cleanliness of the room. The front desk gal was very helpful in accommodating with her services. No breakfast served and they do not make beds for short stays. They will only take out trash & replace linen.

    The staff at our hotel in Portland went out of their way to make our family comfortable. They even kept our belongings locked up and safe while we attended our daughter’s college graduation. I was so worried about leaving our things in the car for graduation, and the staff helped us embrace our daughter’s special day without worry. I’m so grateful.

    Portland is a great town.

    Portland is a great town. It has plenty of hotels, places to eat, places to go to church. And of course, close to Corpus Christi. I was gong to a concert and Portland was the a great placed to stay.
