We toured the whole island.
We toured the whole island. I think the island is 18 miles from Barnegat Lighthouse on the North shore to Holgate at the South end. On days with fine weather, all you have are blue skies, sea gulls and endless ocean views. We did shells/ rocks in Holgate, then bird sanctuary, Light House and Lunch at Kubels on the North. Great fun, and a fabulous, ( but pricey) hotel LBI. We would go again .Guest review byDavidUnited States - 4.0

Lots of construction in front of our motel. Seemed dangerous crossing the street. Our motel said they provided beach chairs and umbrellas but they Don’t have umbrellas, the manager said the island doesn’t want them giving out umbrellas any more, due to injuries. But people also need shade. We rented umbrellas from Ron Jon. Walking 3 blocks with a giant umbrella through construction on a 97 degree day was really a pain. I like Ship Bottom, there are plenty of places to shop for groceries, drug store, shopping, and food within walking distance of each other. Easy to drive around and find parking and easy to walk if you want to leave the car behind with plenty of cross walks. Beach is large and very clean. Eating out was not easy. Most of the restaurants are taking advantage of tourists, even after Labor Day. It was hard to find good food at reasonable prices.
