The whole team were amazing and it felt like one big family- nothing was too much!! The rangers were very knowledgeable, and communicated expertly with one another to ensure you had the best chance of sightings. The reserve has grown significantly since my last visit 14years ago and remains as beautiful as I remembered. The rooms were super comfy, with huge beds and modernised bathrooms. The pool area was lovely, overlooking the reserve with frequent wildlife visitors, making for a great refreshing dip between game drives. The food was delicious! We couldn’t fault it and can’t wait to come back.

Beautiful lodge with stunning private Villas with an incredible outdoor pool overlooking the scenery. Hopewell is very intimate and private. Etienne and his team made us feel very welcomed and our game drives were super special and adventurous. No rush, no fixed times, no big groupes, very individual and special. The location, the beautiful well equipped tent, the food and, most of all, the staff, especially our incredible guide Lenny who was so knowledgeable and really made our stay first class. He even managed to spot the elusive black rhino! The waterhole in front of the dining area is amazing and we saw warthogs and lions drinking there-mind blowing. We didn't want to leave this paradise on earth!

Our three days at Bush Lodge were amazing. The accommodation was perfect (we appreciated the private plunge pool and loved the large comfortable bed). The meals varied and delicious. Most of all were the six game drives with James (JD) at the helm. We saw a wide variety of animals including 4 of the Big 5. Thanks to a wonderful team for making our little vacation memorable.

Offering an intimate Big 5 safari experience, Quatermain's 1920's Safari Camp features a boma bonfire and BBQ facilities. It is located in the Amakhala Game Reserve.

Amakhala consists of several old farms which decided to give up farming and start as a game lodge (years back). So nature reconquered the plantations and ecologists supervise the balance of animals. Leeuwenbosch is one of these old farms. We did two game drives (afternoon and early morning) which are included in the room tariff. Ranger Eubut is phenomenal, he shares many information about animal and plants and their habitat. We saw Cheetas, Elephants, Black Rhinos, Hippos and all kinds of Antilopes, Birds and small animals. Amazing! Food (which is all inclusive) was excellent and served by extremely friendly personnel. Extra point: there is a pub where you can sit with other guests before / after evening dinner and have a drink and chat. Bottom line: Very pleasant stay, very nice game experience. Recommendation!

Wonderful experience! Staff was friendly and promptly met every need. Food was good. Rooms were comfortable. We loved watching wildlife from our tent windows and deck. We enjoyed the hippo family at the lodge. We saw lots of animals on our game drives.

Beautiful rooms and a very private, exclusive lodge. It felt like something from Hemmingway, with fireplaces for cooler evenings, but white tablecloths and excellent food/wines. The game drives were excellent and our guide was very knowledgeable. We saw a family of cheetahs chase and kill a deer, which was a highlight of the trip. One day it rained and the elephants (15 or so) came out to play and bathe in the pond below the lodge. Fantastic!
