We had the most incredible stay at Panorama Chalet 19 in Mpumalanga! From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect — the chalet was spotless and beautifully decorated What made our experience truly unforgettable was the special touch added by the owner. We had requested a birthday setup in advance, and to our amazement, they went above and beyond! The birthday décor was absolutely stunning and made the day feel extra special and personal. It’s not often you find hosts who care that much about their guests’ experience. Thank you so much for your kindness, hospitality, and attention to detail. We will definitely be back — and we highly recommend Panorama Chalet 19 to anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable getaway in Mpumalanga!

We cannot say enough wonderful things about this property. In fact we loved it so much we extended for another night. It is spacious, immaculate and so tastefully decorated. The host was incredible not only with her helpful local recommendations but also helping us chart out our future travels in SA. We HIGHLY recommend staying at 2K!

The property is located just off the road to Lisbon Falls by the Lisbon river, only a few kilometers from the town of Graskop and God's Window. the Owner Charl is such a charming host and he was gracious enough to give us a personal tour of the property on both days. We were thrilled to find out that our lodge was actually a miner's cottage dating back to 1873 and the history of gold prospecting in the area. His two dogs, an Anatolian Shepherd and a Jack Russel terrier kept us company right throughout our stay including the Braai :) In the morning we could also hand feed some of the cute lambs that he raise in his own house at the far end of the land. Nature is at its best here and we could see so many stars and a very clear Milky Way in the night. The Lisbon Falls is just a short walk away, also a major attraction.

The room was amazing and clean, the property is well kept, they had a braai stand and a swimming pool at the back, there was a heater is in the room which helped a lot because it was a bit chilly outside. The staff were friendly and helpful even though we arrived at night, someone was there ready to welcome us.

I have heard on the radio that Pilgrim's Rest was 'revamped" a few years ago, but what a disappointment. Great strides were made to install shopping units for the local traders to sell their goods - but all of the traders were selling the exact same African Art. We were there on a Saturday, and most of the other museum-like shops were closed. It was a ghost town. The local pub was open, and we had a drink. There are only two shops you can buy something from, and they seem reasonably priced, but I will not waste my time. Sadly, no one can think outside the box to liven up the place. It has so much potential!

Pilgrim's Rest is a great little stopover and you can easily spend a day there inspecting the old buildings, visiting museums and the cemetery. Plenty of options for lunch and a few little stalls for souvenirs. All in all, I highly recommend.

Pilgrims rest is an old gold mining town that has been preserved as a living museum. Very interesting looking around the buildings and village. Watch out if you park car as the locals have a tendancy to wash the vehicle without asking and then charge you. If you do get caught out only pay 80 rand

It was really a great surprise esp. after many years of not operating and very dangerous. The town upgraded and I loved the teagarden we had lunch at. The pottery and stain glass shop. The people so friendly and the place really clean all over. My husband had trout and I had a chicken mayo pancake. He had a mampoer milkshake-excellent and I had a lovely coffee.

We enjoyed our short stay in Pilgrim's Rest.

We enjoyed our short stay in Pilgrim's Rest. We arrived a little late in the day due to long delays due to roadworks. Most tourist attractions closed at 4pm so we couldn't explore that afternoon. They opened again at 9am, so we delayed our departure to explore a little, but didn't do the attractions justice. We did however enjoy our drink and supper in one of the local pubs and enjoyed our interactions with the friendly locals.

Very nice and quiet surroundings with great walking trails. The hotel is 'oldschool' colonial so you need to like this style, but if you do it is great. We had an executive room with fire place and very comfortable furniture and beds. Breakfast and diner were good quality; not exceptional but certainly enjoyable. Staff was very friendly and helpful! For those who like a quiet beautiful location for walking, this is a perfect place.
