We had a fantastic time staying in Simon’s Town—such a charming coastal gem! The location is perfect for exploring the Cape Peninsula, with easy access to Boulders Beach and its famous penguins, as well as breathtaking drives along the coast. The town itself has a peaceful vibe, friendly locals, and some great little cafés and restaurants. Our accommodation was lovely—clean, comfortable, and with stunning ocean views that made every morning feel special. It’s the perfect base for nature lovers and those looking to unwind by the sea. Simons Town is a navy town which has influenced much of its history. It has never really been a tourist town but that has changed in recent years when many of the historic building have been restored and there has been an increase in restaurants and cafes. It is a good starting point for trips to the Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Beach (for the penguins). It has a good Naval Museum and volunteer-run Town Museum, Toy Museum and a Muslim Heritage Museum, They have just opened a Submarine - ex South African Navy - which is on dry land and has guided tours through it led by former sailors who served on it. We stayed in an open-plan apartment with a spacious shower and a patio overlooking the ocean. The owners went out of their way to attract a porcupine, and we were lucky to see one—it was huge! The apartment is attached to the owners' house, and we share the same entrance. The owner met us at the golf club. Since it was the holiday season and everything was busy, we couldn't provide a specific arrival time. Being our first visit to Simon's Town, we weren't sure when we would get there. However, our host greeted us warmly at the golf club and treated us to a welcome drink, which was a nice touch. One day, we walked along the beach and saw penguins for the first time. Unfortunately, we didn’t have our cell phones with us, so we missed the chance to take pictures. We also had a meal at the golf club restaurant, which is within walking distance and very affordable. Beautiful village. Generally felt safe. Annoyed with parking at Jubilee Square to walk around and returning 15 mins later with a parking ticket for Bertha’s restaurant for R15. It's a lovely, peaceful town with stunning ocean views. I absolutely loved seeing the penguins (they're adorable!) and trying scuba diving in the cold water—definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience! On the way to the diving points, I even spotted penguins and a seal swimming. For nature lovers, this is a must-visit destination. The only downside is its distance from downtown Cape Town and the wineries. Next time, I would stay in the CBD for a few days to explore the main attractions, then move to Simon's Town for relaxation and nature. The taxi fare (mostly via Uber) was expensive and time-consuming, and unfortunately, there was no public transportation available.Guest review byElle ParkSouth Korea

Loved the fact that the water in the hotel is in glass and not plastic bottles. Close to shops with great take away and sit down restaurants very close. Definitely try the Korean Takeaways. Food is fresh and owner very friendly. Bakery down the street with the best ever pie's. Nice museum's and historical places to visit. Also close to Kalkbay with nice little shops and art places. We were lucky enough during our stay to have a homecooked meal with a private concert. We felt privileged to be there at just the right time. If you are staying more then a few days in Cape Town.
