We had a fantastic time staying in Simon’s Town—such a charming coastal gem! The location is perfect for exploring the Cape Peninsula, with easy access to Boulders Beach and its famous penguins, as well as breathtaking drives along the coast. The town itself has a peaceful vibe, friendly locals, and some great little cafés and restaurants. Our accommodation was lovely—clean, comfortable, and with stunning ocean views that made every morning feel special. It’s the perfect base for nature lovers and those looking to unwind by the sea. Highly recommend a stay here if you're visiting the Cape!

Simons Town is a navy town which has influenced much of its history. It has never really been a tourist town but that has changed in recent years when many of the historic building have been restored and there has been an increase in restaurants and cafes. It is a good starting point for trips to the Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Beach (for the penguins). It has a good Naval Museum and volunteer-run Town Museum, Toy Museum and a Muslim Heritage Museum, They have just opened a Submarine - ex South African Navy - which is on dry land and has guided tours through it led by former sailors who served on it. Various boat trips, shark diving and kayaking are available from the harbour.

We stayed in an open-plan apartment with a spacious shower and a patio overlooking the ocean. The owners went out of their way to attract a porcupine, and we were lucky to see one—it was huge! The apartment is attached to the owners' house, and we share the same entrance. The owner met us at the golf club. Since it was the holiday season and everything was busy, we couldn't provide a specific arrival time. Being our first visit to Simon's Town, we weren't sure when we would get there. However, our host greeted us warmly at the golf club and treated us to a welcome drink, which was a nice touch. One day, we walked along the beach and saw penguins for the first time. Unfortunately, we didn’t have our cell phones with us, so we missed the chance to take pictures. We also had a meal at the golf club restaurant, which is within walking distance and very affordable. We would recommend it. Our two-night stay in Simon's Town was perfect!

    Beautiful village. Generally felt safe.

Beautiful village. Generally felt safe. Annoyed with parking at Jubilee Square to walk around and returning 15 mins later with a parking ticket for Bertha’s restaurant for R15. No notice that parking was chargeable, and we didn’t go near Bertha’s. On principle I won’t recommend it to anyone because of the underhanded approach.

It's a lovely, peaceful town with stunning ocean views. I absolutely loved seeing the penguins (they're adorable!) and trying scuba diving in the cold water—definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience! On the way to the diving points, I even spotted penguins and a seal swimming. For nature lovers, this is a must-visit destination. The only downside is its distance from downtown Cape Town and the wineries. Next time, I would stay in the CBD for a few days to explore the main attractions, then move to Simon's Town for relaxation and nature. The taxi fare (mostly via Uber) was expensive and time-consuming, and unfortunately, there was no public transportation available.

We loved everything. The apartment was exceptionally clean, beautiful and well equipped. The ocean view is breathtaking and you can see the Boulders Beach and the penguins. It felt like magical realism... Simon's Town was the best choice - you have many nice restaurants and cafés, small shops and Cape Town is a half an hour drive. We can not wait to return to Penguins View Guesthouse!

I only stayed for a few days, but the room was always clean. I had no problems with noise, even though I had a room that faced the hotel entrance and had direct access to the restaurants on the ground floor. The breakfasts in the restaurant were the best, everything was very clean and everyone was very helpful. I would not hesitate to return to the hotel and stay there.

This property is stunning. Friendly big smiles from the get go. The rooms are huge, fully renovated older heritage building. To me everything was perfect. Bed- amazing, pillows- amazing, fresh smelling linen- amazing. Wish I had another night or two here but definitely my best accommodation in South Africa so far. Well done to everyone that makes it operate.
