The location of Van Reenen is a) convenient and b) a beautiful part of the world. The scenery is fantastic. The town itself could do with a good lick of paint and a rich and enthusiastic developer of historic buildings. There are a couple of very pretty house which are well looked after. Across the road from the petrol station is "The littlest Church" where we stop for breakfast. Fabulous - both the church, view and breakfast.

Van Reenan & surroundings are a wonderful stopover for the weary traveler! It’s old time charm is still captivating & you walk back into time, with the warmth of country folk who deliver a nice hearty meal, with a smile & a town that time has unfortunately forgotten…

One of the highlights of my stay was the restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. What I appreciated even more was how family-friendly the restaurant was, offering a safe and enjoyable space for children to play while parents dined in comfort. If you’re looking for a tranquil getaway with great hospitality and delicious food, I highly recommend

The area is interesting and historical, there's an antique shop, good resturant as well as. the smallest church in the country. The surrounding scenery is outstanding, a worthwhile area to visit.

We visited the "little church" [just off the N3] and thoroughly enjoyed it, so much history which links with Wyford farm history and had breakfast at the adjoining restaurant which was very good, with an amazing view down the valley

it is a bit of a hidden gem.
it is a bit of a hidden gem. Roads are gravel which adds to teh character. about 6 kms from the turn off- the farm is located.
rich history - well preserved.
Van Reenen is an ideal half- way stop to Durban.
the farm caters for meals etc and also has braai stands in the gardens.
We had all our meals, dinner and breakfast at the farm.
Next time- maybe book a room with a shower and also ensure that we spend longer at the farm.

Oban is an authentic working farm in the beautiful surrounds of Van Reenen Mountain Pass where Guests are immediately made to feel welcome and at home by the wonderful hosts and staff. Meals are fresh and wholesome - comfort food at its best. Our pet-friendly cottage was a delight and our fur-children loved their stay as much as we did. This charming farm is a sanctuary offering a caring, forever home to a number of rescue animals. The love is a joy to see. A very special place - we shall return.

Traveling as a gay couple, my partner and I are always cautious wherever we go. As we hadn't been to Van Reenen before, we booked a twin room to be respectful in case people were conservative. On check in, the lady at reception immediately knew we were a couple, and offered us a double room so we could sleep together. She made us feel incredibly welcome and comfortable. Rooms were very cozy, bed very comfortable. Perfect stop between Johannesburg and Durban.
