Bhutan is a Himalayan hideaway with a wealth of mystery concealed within its hills. As the only Vajrayana Buddhist nation in the world, you’ll notice a strong religious influence in all walks of life, as well as the widespread philosophy of ‘National Happiness’. During your stay in Bhutan, a daily tourism fee covers a local guide, museum fees, meals and transport. Local tours are an ideal way to explore the main destinations like Thimphu, Paro – home to the famous Taktsang Monastery – and Jakar – the site of the ancient Kurje Lhakhang temple. Adventurers should head for Bhutan’s lesser-explored east, showcasing the country’s authentic natural beauty. The eastern region features a number of hilltop monasteries and the pilgrimage site of the Aja-nye cave. Whether you’re looking for a short walk or something longer, you’ll encounter dense forests and scenic routes along the way. Most areas have hotels available, with luxury options available in the picturesque towns of Paro, Jakar, Punakha, Gangtey and Thimphu.

I stayed at Phuntsho Khangsar during my recent visit to Bhutan, the hotel was more than what I expected it to be. The comfort cleanliness and hospitality of the staff really made my stay very comfortable. I got upgraded to the room with a view I would totally recommend spending a little more and booking the room with the view. But I’m here writing this review because I was really moved by the hotel staff who made me a take away breakfast with fresh fruits and eggs at 6am for my flight. Thank you :)

Everything, I fell sick on my first day of arrival in Bhutan and requested an early check in and they accommodated me without any question. During my stay , they constantly checked on me and asked if im feeling better and if i needed anything. The heated mattress was a life saver to me. All the ladies attended with a big smile and were very respectful. I didn't get their names but Thank you so much to all the ladies in Ludrong Hotel for a top notch hospitality.

Definitely stay here! The location is stunning overlooking the Dzong, the Bhutanese food was excellent, and the room was large with plenty of Bhutanese touches that make the place feel homely and welcoming, including some antique items in the rooms. The manager and team were friendly and warm, and all the food comes from their own garden. The dining area is especially beautifully done, in a traditionally Bhutanese style with views of the Dzong as you eat. The team agreed to serve us a super early breakfast at 5:30, served on the terrace outside - again with magnificent views of the Dzong. The owner's family offers the use of their private altar room to meditate. I would happily stay here again!

This is a really good property with an awesome restaurant which serves very tasty food. I am a very frequently traveller and had arrived after a stay at Marriott. I must say this hotel equalled if not bettered Marriott point by point on service promptness and quality. Rooms are very clean and very well maintained. Laundry service is awesome and it didn't burn a hole in my pocket. Very affordable hotel at an excellent location in Thimphu. Special thanks to Lhamo Tshering of the restaurant and all other staff members for taking good care of me during my 10 night stay there.
