Here you’ll find Sørvágsvatn, a scenic freshwater lake hanging on a cliff edge, and the village of Gásadalur, where an icy waterfall tumbles into the ocean. Over in the east, Eysturoy Island tempts hikers with the archipelago’s highest peak, the 882-metre-high Slættaratindur, where you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views. The landscapes of the Southern Islands may not be as dramatic, but what they lack in natural wonder they make up for in friendliness.
