Our favorite hotel experience in Sumba!

Desa Hay is so beautiful. I really enjoyed Munduk Cabins so I wanted to try out Desa Hay in Canggu. I'm so glad I did. The rooms, the garden and pool area are all so well done. Just a beautiful place. The staff are very kind and attentive. There was a storm that caused a power outage in all of Canggu, and Desa Hay was so kind to apologize and offer a gift for the trouble, even though they didn't have to, it was not their fault. They really do go above and beyond in terms of customer service.

I know Pecatu well, and this villa is in such a great spot - perfect for moving around Uluwatu. Booked it for friends and they loved it: calm, clean, and the host was super kind.

Eco-chic design – Sustainable, open-air living with all the modern comforts (yes, even strong WiFi!). Spotlessly clean – Not a single mosquito (a miracle in Bali!) and everything was well-maintained. Private pool – Absolute serenity, surrounded by lush greenery. Perfect for morning swims and sunset dips. 👨‍👧‍👦 The Host: Went Above & Beyond The owner Agung and amaizing Esa was genuinely kind and caring, making me feel like family. As a solo traveler, I sometimes worry about safety and loneliness, but they: Took me around Ubud – Showed me hidden gems I’d never find on my own. secret waterfalls, and cultural spots. Made sure I was comfortable – Always checking in without being intrusive. I recommend all my friends. Peaceful & private – No noisy tourists, just pure relaxation. Solo-traveler friendly – Felt completely at ease the whole time. Authentic Balinese hospitality – Not a commercial resort, just genuine warmth. If you’re looking for a safe, luxurious, and soul-nourishing stay in Ubud, this is THE place. Thank you for an unforgettable experience! All of the great reviews are legit; this place is delightful in every respect! Only wish we had stayed longer, to sample more of their menu items-- everything we had was as beautiful as it was delicious... Also featured some of the best included breakfast sets that we've enjoyed throughout our travels, with their amazing local coffee and fresh squeezed juices. The plunge pool in our villa was a private and refreshing escape when their main pool was busy-- we absolutely loved it, as well as the 'outdoor' garden shower. I should also mention that the mattress/pillows/sheets were top quality (Serta); another pleasant surprise considering the rather remote location. The staff were all so warm & welcoming, accommodating every request I had (and then going above and beyond!). We can't wait to return again someday... And the sooner the better, at that-- as Boni Beach is likely to be featured on 'World's Best Boutique Hotels' lists in the near future (if it isn't already?!). Highly recommend getting down here to enjoy the chilled beach vibes before the crowds find out.
