Located in a quiet oceanfront area on the island of Averøy, this former Bacalao (salt modified and dried cod) factory has been restored into a rustic guesthouse. The brightly decorated studio apartments tell you the ancient history of the building. The rooms come with views of the Atlantic Ocean from French balconies. Kristiansund town center is 10km away. The Atlantic Ocean Road is 25km away. Such a beautiful little hotel with the most lovely staff. We stayed in the Studio Apartment with Sea View and WOW! The view was absolutely breathtaking! We also had dinner at the hotel and it ended up being one of the best meals we had during our time in Norway. I did notice a few reviews mention the steep stairs, but honestly, that’s just part of the charm when staying in a historic building in Europe. It didn’t bother us at all and added to the authentic feel of the place.

Some are housed in traditional buildings dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. Fantastic place with lots of history. Stayed in 300 year old room. Very good food in restaurant. Klippfisk was absolutely superb. Breakfast was very good with many choices hot and cold. Highly recommend to stay at this place if you travel the Atlanterhavsroad.

Havila Hotel Geiranger’s history dates back to the 1860s. Some rooms offer views of Geiranger Fjord. The location is right at the fjord, and those rooms facing the fjord have got fantastic views. But more so, it’s the people at the reception and office who made the deep difference for me. I was feeling unwell and they got help for me. They went out of their way to ensure that I was looked after and be well. I want to thank the staff at the reception and the back office… they were saints.
