The staff were extremely helpful and kind. We reached at night and they provided clear instructions via the app on how to advise the taxi to reach the place, and waited outside for us to help with luggage. They brought us to the town area for dinner and also to a convenience store to get drinks and snacks. They were also very generous with giving tips on itinerary and helped us plan out a route with lesser queues. The hotel was located very near the mountain forest attraction. Breakfast provided was really delicious and we ordered dinner from them as well. The staff were friendly and we felt really well taken care of. I'll definitely be back again!

The staff here were amazingly helpful and friendly. Lucas speaks excellent English and he was able to help us with many things (including booking tickets for other trips that we were doing in other locations in China). Every day one of the reception staff gave us advice as to what to do and where to go in the national park and then they dropped us off by the gate (and collected us again when we came back). We enjoyed relaxing by the pool after a long day up in the mountains. The food in the restaurant was good and the beer was cold! One word of advice: give the Avatar Mountain area a miss as it's very crowded and there's a large tree in the middle of the of the view - you should rather visit the Field in the Sky as it's much less crowded and has a much nicer view (make sure you explore all the paths that are there as there are quite a few different viewing locations that are not signposted).

I've stayed at Tongfu Inn for five nights and I couldn't have chosen something better to explore the Zhangjiajie national park. Carol will explain everything you need to know about what you can explore and how it works, she helped me buying tickets and transports and she gave me some maps. The room was big, clean and comfortable. Carol and her family are always available to help you with anything you need and they will cook super tasty and fresh food everyday. Tongfu Inn is definitely super recommended!

This place is a gem. Rain and his colleague were extremely helpful and both spoke excellent English. Beautiful spacious rooms. Great food for breakfast and dinner. A fun little bar with karaoke for after dinner. Warm infinity pool to soak the bones after a long day out in the park. It is a few minutes drive from the West gate. They drop you off and pick you up for free whenever you want. Service in general outstanding. Sad to leave

This Chinese homestay was recommended by my friend because he walked the whole area and it's the closest entrance gate to Avatar. We chose the paid service from the airport to the scenic spot. The boss sent us to the gate of the scenic spot every day and picked us up for free at the gate of the scenic spot at night. After tasting Chinese food, I found that I love Chinese food.

What a splendid spot. Tucked right by the park entrance, it offers remarkable convenience without sacrificing an ounce of tranquillity. Waking up to those peaks each morning was rather special. The team here runs a tight ship – everything is spotless and handled with quiet efficiency. The breakfast set us up perfectly for the day. We shall certainly return.

Carol is an exceptional host who speaks good English. She has a very good knowledge of where to go and visit in the Zhangjiajie Forest Park. Close (400 metres) to the West Gate Ticket Office. Serves good value breakfast (3 options) and very good value dinner.

First of all, the location: the house is situated just inside the Zhangjiajie Forest National Park, by the West Gate. If you plan to really see the Park, this is the best place to stay for sure since it does take a good hour from Zhangjiajie City to reach. Instead of getting up super early every day, we could easily just walk outside the house and wave for the bus to stop and let us on, then we’d drive maybe 5 minutes (if at all) and arrive at the cable car station. The facilities are amazing, too. The room was beautiful and nicely renovated and it even had one of those neat automatic toilets. The house had multiple seating areas outside, like a terrace and a pool (which was closed since it was the low season), but our absolute favorite was the patio by the river. It’s so peaceful and idyllic and really lets you appreciate the natural scenery. Secondly: the food! Delicious breakfast and dinner! Most importantly: our hosts! These people are the warmest, kindest, most gracious hosts I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Especially Nihong. Our time in Zhangjiajie would not have been the same without her. She was our tour guide for the first two full days, showing us so much of the park we would have never seen otherwise. She took time out of her day for us for three straight days just to make sure we had the best possible experience. We learned so much about Tujia culture as well, which was so interesting. Her English is so good and she was always interested in learning more, and in turn she helped us learn a few Chinese words and phrases. And her husband drove us to the Railway Station when we had a very early train to catch, which was such a big help. We could not have been more lucky with these kind people! All in all, if you’re thinking of staying here, please do! You won’t regret it. We certainly hope we can return one day! Xiexie! Wo ai ni Zhangjiajie!
