The staff was incredibly welcoming, happy to help us around; both before our stay as well as on site — they even took care of parking our rental car :)
Meals (both dinners and breakfasts) were one of the highlights of the stay, with an amazing variety of truly excellent dishes — and different everyday!
The onsen was amazing, we truly appreciated having the option to book a private room for ourselves, as this was our honeymoon.
The rooms was great as well, in a traditional japanese setting, with extremely comfortable futons, a private bath, and an adjoining tea room.

The osen experience is unique. We did the cave and the open-air osen. The old building, and the open-fire grill for dinner, the beef, etc... It is right next to the river and it is in the center of the town. Very conveniently located. A lot of tourists take selfies in front of the buildings so it is a destination on its own.

It was an amazing experience, the staff really went above and beyond to accommodate my friends and I on our graduation trip. Highly highly recommend to anyone on the fence about going, we were treated like kings and it was the single most memorable thing about our 3 week trip to Japan.

To put it right; this was the best place we could have chosen. It's an amazing hotel, just above the river, the room had river view, was traditionally furnished and we had everything we could have wished for. The onsens were also amazing, many different baths to choose from, changing between female and male areas depending on the time of day. The dinner buffet was just mindblowing, so much choice and one thing was better than the other. We could have dined forever. Some references mention that it's a place with lots of tourists. Well, when we were there, we were the only non-asian people, at least I've not seen anyone else. Maybe there are tourists from other Asian countries, but also in the onsen, we were always the only obvious foreigners. Also the staff was extremely friendly and professional. Thank you so much for the unforgettable stay.
