We stayed in one of the front rooms, and really enjoyed sitting on the balcony looking out at the mountains. Rawana provided amazing service, very attentive, we had Sri Lankan breakfasts lunches and dinners cooked by his wife which were so delicious- genuinely some of the best food we've had so far. Rawana also took us in his the Tuk Tuk to see the views of lakegala, guided us on a hike to diyakerella Ella falls, and drove us to the sliding rock swimming spot even though it was raining the whole time (4-5h)! Their 3yo son was also very sweet to hang out with. In terms of prices he charged us 10 000 for the Tuk Tuk and guide, and I think we paid 7-8000 for two dinners and a lunch for two. The rooms and shared bathroom were basic, clean and comfortable, the beds are a little hard, and there are no sealed windows (but we didn't have any issues with bugs) but none of that is a problem, it's in the middle of a jungle! Definitely recommend!

We stayed one night in abimansala resort. It was really a nice experience. They’re a really kind family. The food was really good. The location was beautiful. It’s a nice place to stay. It’s quiet, clean. They gave us some pepper to take back home. It’s near by a river that you can take a bath. It’s really a nice place to be in immersion with nature. We recommend this place.

Overall our stay was amazing, the tents are comfortable and very clean, the food was nice but nothing exceptional, we were not able to do any of the hikes due to personal circumstances but it was still a very pleasant stay

Every experience was thoughtfully curated, offering the perfect balance of adventure and insight. The infinity pool with its breathtaking mountain views quickly became our favorite spot to relax. The authentic Sri Lankan meals were a true culinary delight, bursting with flavor and tradition. My stay at Ferndale Retreat Luxury Eco Resort in Kandy was phenomenal. Having traveled to more than 10 countries, I have never experienced such exceptional hospitality. From the moment we checked in, the service was outstanding. The owner, Chaminda, personally welcomed my boyfriend and me, offering us a complimentary trekking excursion to a nearby waterfall where we enjoyed a refreshing dip in the natural pool. This unexpected adventure was truly amazing. We had the pleasure of enjoying home-grown, garden-fresh vegetables from Ferndale's own organic farm. We even picked them ourselves! The in-house chef prepared a wonderful Sri Lankan meal inspired by the farm-to-table concept, and all the food was organic. The meals were delicious and showcased the fresh ingredients beautifully. The rooms were incredibly comfortable, with super cozy beds and a balcony view that transported us to another world. The bathrooms were spotless and the water was incredibly refreshing. If I could, I’d rate my experience 100/10. The resort employs local staff from the nearby village and is committed to 100% sustainable practices. They use eco-friendly materials, conserve water, and support the local community in every possible way. Staying at Ferndale Retreat, you can really feel their dedication to preserving the environment and promoting sustainability. Anyone visiting Kandy should stay at this remarkable place for at least one day—though I highly recommend staying for at least two days to fully experience the beauty and tranquility of this amazing property
