A very lovely and peaceful stay in Tangalle. The family running the business is so kind, helpful and welcoming. Everything was perfect : location (very chill, outside of the city center, right next to 2 beautiful beaches), food (outstanding freshly cooked breakfasts available 🤤), very clean, new and nice rooms + beautiful pool. We definitely recommend to everyone we know for your stay in Tangalle and would be happy to come back one day 🇱🇰 Thank you for everything 🙏🏻, the dad even helped us and waited with us at the bus stop to make sure we get the right one for our following destination, it was very very kind! Stay of a lifetime! This place was nothing short of spectacular, with its breath-taking beauty, pristine gardens, and immaculate cleanliness. The relaxing pool area was just the icing on the cake. What truly made our stay unforgettable was the staff. Alexandra, in particular, went above and beyond - her kindness shone when she arranged for our freshly caught fish to be cooked for dinner. It's these thoughtful gestures that set this place apart. I highly recommend the personalised Ayurvedic treatment; it was professional and incredibly rejuvenating. A resounding 10/10!

Hosts are amazing and helpful. We also went fishing with Manu. Breakfast is plentiful and good. The rooms were very clean. The location is excellent since it is close to the centre but in a quiet area. And it is also very close to the beach. I highly recommend the place.

Everything - beautiful design, wonderful location on the most stunning beach I’ve seen in Sri Lanka. Food was superb, cocktails delicious, pool the perfect place to unwind after a day out exploring.

I can write thousands of words about how good this experience was. We stayed 2 nights, and everything was beyond perfection. Rooms are big, very clean, smell fanstastic, the internet is good, and hot water all the time. Breakfast was fantastic, different in both days. Absolutely perfect! But what makes this accomodation amazing are the people here. So attentive to everything! We were just looking at one of the umbrellas offered for each room, and they immediately brought a big beach umbrella. There are peacocks around, and one came in the garden. They started feeding the peacocks immediately so we could watch it. Accommodation is close to the wild beach, and there are plenty of restaurants around. 10/10, recommend it!

The place is a real hidden gem in Tangalle. We loved the pool and the vibes of the place. Everyone was extremely friendly and smiling all the time. The food in the hotel's restaurant is amazing. Our room was exactly like in the pictures, we chose the one with a sofa in the balcony so that we can chill outside. The room was light, full of sunshine and great decoration. There was also a fridge and a hairdryer, which is absolutely a plus. Johan and his team made our stay unforgettable, they assisted with organizing programs and transport.

We spent a lot of time researching hotels and accommodation along the south coast of Sri Lanka. We wanted to find somewhere that was clean and comfortable by western standards, that had a bar and restaurant, had a swimming pool and was on the beach. We found all of this and more at the Sleeping Elephant with a superb team looking after us under the friendly eye of owners Jaroslav and Monika. We didn't want to be in a busy area, tick, we didn't want crowds, tick, we didn't want nightlife and late bars, tick, we wanted wild and relatively quiet beaches with accessible restaurant/bars along the beach, tick. We got everything we wanted there, being in a very comfortable and spacious villa in a small resort where you get hands on hospitality without people being overbearing. The food is really good and there's a good choice there and on the drinks menu. While we were there we saw a mixture of families and couples and all seemed to be really happy with their choice to stay here. We saw turtles laying eggs nearby in a managed conservation beach, saw masses of wildlife in and around the resort (monkeys, eagles, monitors) and felt so safe and comfortable for the entire time. Thanks so much Jaroslav, Monika and team, it was our first time in Sri Lanka and our first stop and you made it a dream start in a beautiful country.
