Set in park-like grounds on the shores of Lake Te Anau, 5 minutes' walk from the town centre, Te Anau Lakefront Backpackers has both mountain and lake views from the majority of the rooms. The recepcionist from Chile was exceptional , very smiling despite the number of persons waiting. She deserves a raise . The localisation was perfect and it was very clean

The peace is amazing, and waking up to that lake view in the morning… wow, pure magic. My tip: stop by a supermarket beforehand and bring something to cook here. You won’t want to leave what I call a truly magical place (for those who value nature and experience over five-star luxury). I can only say thank you for everything.
