The geniune friendliness and hospitality. This guest house is peaceful and lovely. The rooms are traditional Japanese, with tatami mats and futons, clean and honest. There is a tea/coffee station, and it is clearly a favourite destination for travellers, new and returning. The hosts are very helpful and kind. And the onsen! A perfect stay to offset more modern-style hotels in bigger cities.

It feels incredibly authentic. For anyone staying here, I'd just say trust the process, the host is the sweetest little old man who hosts really fun karaoke evenings. It wasn't what we expected going into it but this place gave us some great laughs and memories for life.

I like our room, it was clean and nice with touch of traditional Japanese room and has a view of the garden and mountain. It is really relaxing trip for us in Hakone. The staff were very friendly and accomodating.

I had a wonderful stay at this Guest House Zen! The view of Mt. Fuji from the property was breathtaking—waking up to it every day was a highlight of my trip. The dinner was of great value and a great way to meet and connect with other guests. I loved cooking over hot coals. It was very fun and delicious. The whole building was very beautiful and old. It felt very authentic. The location is great. It is right next to the Hakone Open Air Museum.

The guesthouse was just near bus station and it was easy to get to from kawaguchi station. I was fascinated by the beautiful lake near the guesthouse. There are also many good restaurants nearby and a great cycling trail.
