What a host! I have never stayed in a guest house with such a welcoming and engaging host. I really felt like the owner and host cared about their guests a lot and made their stay very pleasant. I really enjoyed engaging with the other guests in this guesthouse, which enables people to get to know each other during breakfast, at the bar or in the common room. The facilities were nicely designed and decorated. Despite the distance to the centre of Sapporo, I would definitely recommend this hidden gem to everyone. Additionally, the shorter distance to Teine Olympia and Highland Ski Resort and Otaru is very convenient. This guesthouse is perfectly located in between Sapporo Downtown and Otaru, which both are worth a visit.

Booking.com needs to update that there is no longer breakfast provided in their package but other than that Yoshida-san went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. The house was warm throughout the cold winter nights and it had all the facilities we needed.

The bedrooms were kept nice and cool during the hottest days in Sapporo. I liked that it's a bit smaller and cozy since it makes it easier to choose whether you want to be social or not. Lots of space downstairs in the cafe to work if you need to or to chat with friends. I've always made really good travel buddies at Yasube. Just a short walk away from the park where the train station is, plus there are always activities happening at the park regardless of season. Also, very close to all sorts of mom-and-pop restaurants. I really recommend Bar H which is right around the corner if you like to drink and chat, especially if you speak Japanese and want to talk to some locals (although the bar owner loves to talk to people in English too). Great place to stay if you're looking for a more relaxed, slow-paced stay. Yasube-san is super nice and always willing to help out.

The location is amazing! The mountains are so close, and in the winter, the blanket of snow over everything is mesmerising. It is positioned in a great apot to visit both Otaru and Sapporo. The train ride to Otaru is amazing with great ocean views. The room was not cold in the winter with the heater that you can use and the facilities were all very clean and well maintained.

Close to the tramway line, very clean, quite, practical. The hosts were extremely friendly and helped me carrying some special luggage to the tramway station.

The hostel owner was incredibly helpful and friendly, and fluent in English. I reached out via LINE about dropping my luggage off before the check-in time and he kindly gave me instructions on how to do so. When I checked in later that evening he kindly shared some extra information about the snow festival that was super cool!
