Beautifully converted machiya in the centre of the historic district of Gojo. Absolutely incredible view over the river and mountains. The host gave perfect recommendations (go where he tells you, the Okonomiyaki and the cocktail bar were excellent) and even reserved places for us. A really exceptional and kind host who had thought of lots of ways to ensure the stay was perfect. Can’t say enough wonderful things, one of the best places we’ve stayed in Japan and definitely the best host. Only wish we’d stayed longer!

Everything about our stay was just perfect. From being picked up at the train station, delicious homemade meals with records playing in the background, a beautifully appointed home, friendly and helpful hosts, riding through the countryside on electric bikes and being driven to & picked up from Koyasan. Such a special experience.

We loved the attention to detail, especially the vintage record player with Japanese vinyls and how well stocked the kitchen was (oil, spices, rice, coffee etc. - the best we had in Japan!). Staff was very accommodating. Very spacious, perfect for our group. We had to change the group size due to a mistake of our own and it was very easy to resolve, thank you for that. We had a great time!

- Beautifully decorated room - Very comfortable bedding - Really friendly and helpful staff - Great facilities and amenities. There is a kitchen for guests, and the lobby also doubles as a cafe. That's a huge benefit if you like coffee! - I loved going for walks around the area. There is a beautiful temple just next door. - Great location for visits around Koyasan.

I‘m so lucky to have found this gem of a guest house! After having traveled for over a month and having stayed in many busy hostels and hotels, this clean, tranquil and still spacious accommodation was exactly what I needed. Perfectly located close to some main tourist attractions in Koyasan and to the bus stop to Koyasan station, this traditional Japanese guest house comes with everything you need. Also, Nori is a great host. He speaks very good English and gave me tons of recommendations on what to do, how to get around, and where to eat (which was super helpful, as I struggle sometimes as a vegan). Nori and his family also served very delicious vegan breakfast! And he also helped me with the exchange of my train tickets as I booked the wrong - so very kind and helpful, thank you again! Generally, it’s the perfect mix of privacy and social interaction. I genuinely enjoyed my stay here very much and can’t recommend it enough. Thanks for all the help, recommendations and insights to Buddhist/Japanese tradition!
