Barbara was so kind and friendly and helpful. Her house is so beautiful and in a lovely location, a short walk to the beach and a bus stop. As others have said, it's a sort of communal living guesthouse which feels like you're living with housemates. I met some lovely people while staying there and we cooked and ate together. I would recommend this place to anyone coming to Yakushima, particularly those with a car.

Lovely guest house with incredibly friendly hostess! It is simple, yet love everything and every moment there! The lady who runs the guest house is extremely nice and helped me book the boat when my initial plan went wrong. I felt home and I also made good friends there. The airport and a supermarket are close by, just 5 minute walk. Free washing machine which is a plus after doing a hike. Will surely come back again!

Charming minshuku with super helpful staff and very many amenities eg free washing machine and dryer, good onsen, v good meals . My room was spotlessly clean and had a wash basin . The minshuku is about 40 min walk from the port though it’s also on a bus route . There is an Indian restaurant and a large supermarket within easy walking distance .

A 4-minute drive from the Port of Miyanoura, Minshuku Iwakawa offers affordable Japanese-style accommodation, rooftop barbecue facilities and free-use washing machines. Free Wi-Fi is available.

- Simple yet beautiful room on the second floor of the new building / great view on the mountains. - Fully equipped hotel with spotless kitchen and laundry room. - shared bathroom and toilets were extremely clean. - Fresh towels every day. - Very nice and helpful staff at the front desk, we were welcomed with informations on the area and a map for hikes. - Cafes and dinner options in the area, even in low season (we visited in February)

The little pension is run by a lovely grandma and grandpa. Very welcoming, even though there was a language barrier, as they do not speak English, we managed to get the point across via translation apps. They offer yummy breakfast and can prepare nice bento for you if you ask for it for lunch. The location is great, near the airport, however car is optimal for the best experience. The location of the pension is close to all of the main routes and key activities. We were staying in the private bathroom room and were happy with the facilities.

An amazing place to stay for a vacation in Yakushima. The location is spectacular with a sea view, the rooms are spacious and very comfortable.
