Jakotel was spotless clean. I did not know what to expect at first but upon entering it was clear that the place is well maintained. Both my room and the common areas and the bathroom were exceptionally clean. Probably one of the cleanest I have stayed at, especially given the value for money. The area is also home to many exceptional restaurants and cafes (just down the street to the south there is an okonomiyaki place with a Michelin star that is extremely good, and to the north there is a small takoyaki cafe that I also really liked).

If you look for an authentic Japanese experience, this is the place to stay. I really liked the approach and attitude of the staff. Very accommodating and polite. The rooms were exceptionally clean, all the provided towels and futons were clean. The rooms are quite old, with a Showa-era feel but extremely well maintained. The guesthouse is near a train station, making it easy to reach on foot. Even though we booked a single family room, it was not cramped with plenty of room for 4 people. Air conditioning worked well and was not smelly. Overall enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

Really great homestay in a traditional Japanese house that has been in the family since the 1920s. Bedding is futons and you'll need to take your shoes off inside , if your this is the experience you're looking for you'll have a great time. The hosts do a great job of being welcoming and have an extensive website to answer any questions you might have. Id definitely stay here again and recommend it to any of my friends visiting Osaka

This was my second time staying with Yuji and Ryo, and it remains one of the best experiences I’ve had in Japan. As a female solo traveller, I felt completely safe and cared for. The hosts were incredibly kind, treating me more like a friend than a guest. They went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable, sharing advice about the city and pointing me toward lesser-known spots to explore. The space was clean, cosy, and thoughtfully prepared. While the location is a little out of the way, it offers a peaceful atmosphere in an old-school district that feels like stepping back in time. I loved exploring the neighborhood, discovering authentic kissatens (Japanese coffee shops) and delicious udon spots nearby. I felt at home throughout my stay and am so grateful for Yuji and Ryo’s warmth and hospitality. I’ll always choose to stay here whenever I’m in Osaka and highly recommend it to anyone visiting!
