Kevin, our host was absolutely brilliant. He help me a lot during my stay. The view from the Homestay was amazing, overlooking the rice field and the mountains. Not too far from the city centre. Breakfast was very good and Kevin make me feel at home.

I definitely recommend this hostel. It's safe. Very good and clean. Hot water. Wifi. Good reakfast included. Other food can be ordered too. Private rooms. Good price. Very comfortable. The host is very nice. I would recommend him to be your guide. He knows what is going on in the area at the time. I've visited many places with him. I've stayed longer because I wanted to see every day of the funeral celebrations. Every day, different things happen. The funeral was 5 days. They can be even longer if it is a higher class family. I've stayed in Papa Tia, but if it is fully booked, someone can stay in Mama Tia. It's his son's place. When I was in a hostel in Makassar, they helped me book the bus to Rantapao. Another guide contacted me through them and offered his trips. I didn't take this offer. It would be paying someone else for what you can arrange by yourself in Rantapao with your homestay. I was happy with Jacob's (the host from Papa Tia) trips. He will advise what the options are, and people can choose what they want to visit. Jacob also helped me to organise the bus to Poso, and he helped me with communication with my next hotel. Many thanks 😊

This Homestay was the definition of what a perfect Indonesian Homestay experience should look like. The amazingly kind family took me in as a child of their own. I happened to become a little sick during my stay due to too much travelling in the previous days so the family responded by giving my medicine, bringing me tea, and telling me to rest up for as many days as I might need until I felt better. I felt as if I was at home. And along with that, they offer scooters rental for 100k per day, washing for 20k per kilo and delicious and filling meals all around the clock upon request for only 25k per meal. The father of the family also can take you to a traditional Toraja funeral ceremony if you ask him. Without exaggeration, this has been one of my favourite and most wholesome Homestays during my 6 month long Asia travels. Thanks so much again and I can’t wait to come back

The room is clean, comfortable and conviently located. The family is so helpful, caring and firendly. Mr Daud, the owner and an anthropologist, is amazing at sharing his passion and knowledge about his torajan culture during the tours he organises. I had the chance to participate to a funeral ceremony with him and I can not thank him enough for all his explanations, for showing me around off beaten paths, making me feel welcome amongst the locals.

The room and all facilities are really clean, we enjoyed the breakfast every morning, location is good only a short drive to the main road and quiet location. The bed was really comfy and good shower pressure. The best part was our hosts, Bella and her parents! Such lovely people it felt like we were a part of their family; they took care of us so well and were so welcoming. Felt right at home. Thank you!!

Positives: 1. The location was close to town: eateries, market, other amenities. 2. Hot water in the shower and sink (not always the case in Toraja) 3.     Great homestay, big beds, hot shower with good pressure and a shared bathroom that's always clean. Breakfast is one of the best I've had in whole Indonesia. Above all, Ibra is a lovely host and would do anything to help you or make your day better, give you recommendations, his contacts. The funeral ceremony tour with him was also an amazing experience. Absolutely recommended!

    Lovely host family. Paulus (host) did take us to a Torajan funeral as a guide. Also he arranged a rental motorbike/moped for us. His wife Ernie makes the best banana pancakes for breakfast!!

    Meske and her family are the best host family you could ever wish for! Your stay will be a true experience with the locals, their food and habits. Meske goes the extra mile; she will spend evenings with you to help you plan your programme and suggest the best guides and drivers. This is not a simple stay - you should know you will leave your heart in Toraja ;)
