After the initial hustle and chaos of India, staying at Mountainview Homestay is a welcome place to unwind. Asfal and his friends are friendly and easy to talk to, and they give great tips on what to see and do in the area. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed. Waking up to a view of the green trees, with a cup of good coffee is pure bliss. It’s incredibly peaceful, with the occasional playful troop of monkeys on the roof to break the silence, peeking curiously at you as they play. In short, the perfect spot to recharge before diving back into colorful, bustling India. P.S. Asfal also helped us with the next leg of our trip. He arranged a taxi driver to take us to the Alleppey, and along the way shared lots about the history of Kerala and India, tea plantations, and Hinduism. We made several stops and got to try local sweets – highly recommended!

This was my favorite part of Kerala so far and also my favorite Homestay. I can see why they recently won an award for best farmstay in all of India! The home is lovingly well maintained and charming…the plantation beautiful and interesting and well worth a tour through with George. The food, prepared by lovely Aabha, is next level delicious. I had many dinners and all breakfasts at the property. All the staff are gems and so kind. Ashwan, Checkin…made me feel very at home. Everything was provided, the views of the hills sublime, the singing birds…I just can’t say enough about this quality accommodation. I will miss this family. I stayed for 10 days. I feel like I will be back and next time, would like to stay longer, if they will have me ;)

The stay was in a prime location, with 2 beautiful rooms in a house that we had separate access to. The hosts were polite, and accommodating and they provided us with local Kerala special dishes on our request. Our stay was quite smooth with all the facilities.

This property is an absolute gem and one of my favorite stays in India. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded expectations. Even the most basic rooms are incredibly spacious—more like a one-bedroom apartment—blending traditional charm with modern minimalism. The setting is breathtaking, nestled within a plantation where you wake up to birdsong and crickets. We even spotted deer during our stay! The staff are genuinely warm and attentive, making the experience feel personal and welcoming. Daily Ayurvedic massages added to the relaxation, and a highlight was the cooking class led by Chef Sibil, Arun, and their team, where we learned to make a fantastic Kerala fish curry. Akhila also gave us an insightful tour of the plantation, which made us appreciate the place even more. One of the unique touches here is the drinking water—it is harvested on-site and tastes incredibly fresh! The breakfast spread was exceptional, with perfectly prepared dishes, fragrant fruits, and fresh juices. We also tried the plantation’s coffee, a lovely light to medium-bodied brew. If you visit, do not miss their honey—it is outstanding! Food here is a true highlight. Some of my top recommendations are the All-Spice Chicken, Kerala Beef Coconut Fry, Banana Fritters, and Kerala Parotta. Everything was cooked to perfection. This place offers a rare balance—it is intimate and peaceful, yet has all the comforts of a high-end retreat. My favorite spot was the balcony, overlooking the lush greenery of the plantation—a perfect place to unwind. Smaller properties sometimes come with limitations, while larger ones can feel impersonal. This one is just right—private and exclusive, yet offering everything you could need for a perfect stay. Highly recommend!

    Beautiful homestay in the mountains. Nice rooftop to be sociable and great host. Clean and comfortable rooms with bathroom. Close to the centre and national park. Great breakfast available made by the host with lots of options. Would 100% recommend staying at Mountain View.

    Ferndale is a great place to stay. Located in a lush and quiet neighbourhood. Dexter and Debby have been very thoughtful hosts. I highly recommand Ferndale if you're looking for a homestay in the Kumily / Thekaddy area.

    The host Mr. Shyam was very helpful in organising the trip and he assisted us very well. The homestay was very calm and located a bit away from chaiotic main town. Clean rooms and easy enterly happy with the stay and service. We were given access to cook food for ourself as we took our 5 month old child.

    The host Mr. Abbas is a very good and polite human. Everything was perfect as per price. Room and toilet were clean and equipped with hot water facilities. Room was spacious and well comfort. I must recommend this homestay if you are a budget traveler and wanting a homely environment.

    The best homestay you could find in India. Very clean, comfortable rooms and a lovely rooftop social area. Afsal is a fantastic host. He makes you feel at home immediately. He has good knowledge of activities in the area and is well respected by the locals. Like most guests, we wanted to extend our stay, and we were sad to leave. I highly recommend 👌

    I loooved my stay at Konark homestay. Rani and her husband are great hosts and trust me you will want to book this place for the views alone! The sun sets beautifully over the nature reserve which is right on the boarder of the back of the homestay. Also I think they improved their wifi because I had no issues, I was also able to upload a very large video file within 2 hours. If I come back to Kumily I will book here again. Water in shower gets hot and the bed is comfortable as well.
