What a wonderful and memorable stay in a traditional Fijian village. We liked it so much that we ended up staying in Soso village for a month. Silo, Bill, Va, Rob, Simi, Luisa and Iki, we will never forget the great time we had with you. You took good care of us, prepared extra food for the children and helped us when they got sick. As for the village. The people are very friendly, with a lot of children, so our kids made friends instantly. The beach in front of the village is beautiful, with a nice healthy reef to snorkel and there are some nice hikes with spectacular views over all of the Tasawas. As there is no light pollution, stargazing is breathtaking and the manta ray passage is just around the corner. The accommodation is very basic with a bucket shower and no-flush-toilet, but the beds are comfortable and the food is great. Note that the water available is rain water, so if you want to go safe, bring your own bottled water (or aqua-tabs) from the mainland because there are no real shops on the island. Also, you should wear a Sulu (Sarong) around the village and in church, men too. And it’s expected that you bring a kava root (worth 20 FJ$) and/or some money to present to the chief of the village when you arrive.

Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with an outdoor fireplace. Beautiful beach, great homecooked meals, comfortable hammock to lie in, scenic hikes and pretty snorkeling on the island. Plenty to do and trips/activities available to keep you busy if you want to see surrounding islands - a wonderful place to spend some time relaxing and get away from the mainland. Everyone was so welcoming as all the homestays on the island are run by one big family, there was also a nearby teahouse and homemade ice-cream available to buy. This is the newest of all the homestays there and has lights in the room/bathrooms thanks to solar panels, which was super useful at night time!
Naviti Island

I adored this place and could have stayed forever. Emily and the boys were so nice and made my stay wonderful. Loads of activities available like snorkelling, manta rays, hiking, spearfishing, kayaking, but all can be done on your own timetable (as in, no fixed group spots like at resorts). The food was homely, varied, and delicious, made from locally grown or foraged ingredients like cassava and seagrapes. The beach is beautiful, with some of the most colourful reefs I’ve seen anywhere just a 50m swim out. The rooms are basic, but great if that’s what you’re expecting.
A warning: there’s no internet reception, so prepare accordingly (a weak reception might be available if you walk down the beach and up some rocks)

Community based run! It was really the best experience as you have contact to the locals and the team is really nice!!
Facilities were fine for price - clean, well upkept, large rooms. Vibes were more of a long-stay place with travellers who had been there for >1 month. Food was decent and plentiful. Great place for experiencing the culture, they offered school and village tours and some travellers used it as a gateway to homestays around Wayalailai
Incredible hosts, beautifully remote and really rustic. An authentic experience of what Fiji locals have to offer. And absolutely incredible coral and tropical fish just in front of the resort
Really appreciated Emily and her family they were great hosts/guides. spear fishing was one of the many highlights along with picureesque views above and underwater good bush ,Coconut husking and even got to play vollyball with the locals who were really friendly, also had a good laugh playing cards with the Fijian boys! Sure food wasn't 5 star but it was tasty and there was always enough (even for my 2 teenage sons). If your happy to forego some luxurys Wai Makre is an amazing experiance in a stunning location. Thanks Wai Makre crew!
Thank you for giving me such a warm welcome here at Taven Homestay! I have always felt at home far away from my home in Germany. I had a wonderful time playing Uno with Tusi, his wife Julie and Don who also stayed here for more than a few days. Not to mention Salome and all the other friendly people I've met here! The food was really delicious and I felt like I was in a beautifully maintained botanical garden. Next time I am in Fidji I will definitely come back to this place!
The coral reefs.. was beautiful and fresh.. Loved the clams and beautiful fish, sunrise was beautiful, sitting with the locals for breakfast was a treat
Very friendly staff and locals all joining in with guests to make you feel like your at home
I stayed only 2 nights at Navi's homestay and I wish I had more time. They welcomed me as familly, food was delicious, and it was a great experience to discover the local life (going to church, visiting the village, drinking kava with locals..). Thanks for opening your home to me and for your kindness !
Salome and her husband were very nice and caring. They made us feel like home. Spending time at this home stay give you a different perspective as how the locals live. Food and location were perfect.
