J-Hoppers Kumano Yunomine Guesthouse is situated in Hongu, a 10-minute drive away or a 70-minute walk on the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Route from Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine.

This guesthouse is located along one of the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Routes and Yunomine Hot Spring, said to be one of the oldest hot springs baths in Japan, is a 5-minute walk from the property. Everything was great, especially the inhouse onsens.

Located just 1.3 km from Oka Park, Guesthouse RICO offers accommodation in Wakayama with access to a bar, a shared lounge, as well as a housekeeping service. Featuring a terrace, the 2-star guest house has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi. The accommodation provides a lift, a shared kitchen and luggage storage for guests. The property and rooms had a very quirky and pleasing design! We really enjoyed the preservation of the original building, but with a modern update. The room was spacious and comfortable for a group of friends, and there were nice common spaces such as the pantry and bar areas downstairs. It was well situated, near to many food options, and was easy to access busses to places of interest. We walked from the Wakayama train station and that was a little far but you could easily take a bus.

Ideally located just a 10-minute walk from the iconic Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Guesthouse Soi offers various rooms including private Japanese-style rooms and dormitory rooms. Both Kiyomizu Gojo and Shichijo stations for the Keihan Main Line are situated within a 10-minute walk. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. Such an amazing guesthouse! I cannot recommend it enough. The people running it are so lovely and helpful. The rooms are great, as well as the facilities. I would definitely recommend.

It is set less than 1 km from Shingu Castle Ruins Park and provides a shared kitchen. The guest house offers rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. The house itself is beautiful Japanese classic house, however all facilities are modern and clean!!! Down town and Hayatama shrine are located in really walkable distance from the guest house.

NONAGASE GUEST HOUSE, a property with a garden, is situated in Chikatsuyu, 300 metres from Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art, 29 km from Kamitonda Concert Hall, as well as 31 km from Hosshinmon Oji Shrine. There is an in-house restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. Tokei Shrine is 35 km from the guest house and Shirahama Art Museum is 41 km away. This was the most wonderful stay I have experienced. I stayed here whilst I did the Kumano Kodo. I loved the style of the building. The location was great for the walk itself as a half way point. You feel exhausted after that first day and this is a great place to stay to rest and recoup. The welcome drink was very welcomed and we enjoyed it in the lovely garden. The room its self was plush and so comfortable. Hitomi and Omry did everything to make this the most comfortable and enjoyable stay. I don’t even know where to start with the meal, you must book the dinner, breakfast and lunch. It was definitely at the maximum end of my budget to do this but I will never forget the experience. Me and my friend shared a 5 course dinner, all courses were oishi (delicious) and so perfectly presented. Even now 2 months later I can remember the dinner and the flavours and how it made me feel. The packed lunch the next day was perfect fuel for the walk. Great shower to rinse off from the day as well and lovely living room area.

Situated right in the centre of Osaka, 400 metres from Tsutenkaku and less than 1 km from Hayashi Fumiko Literary Monument, CityStay Nambaminami features air-conditioned accommodation with a balcony and free WiFi. It is located less than 1 km from Kuroda Han Historical Gate and provides a lift. Guests can access the homestay via private entrance. This place has been one of my favs. Very spacious, clean and beds really comfy. Love that it has a laundry here as well. The location is good and the property is really nice. Easy check in and check out. Definitely recommend:)

The guest house provides rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. the room was really comfy and cozy with basic amenities provided for you. the owner of the guesthouse was really friendly and helpful during the stay. do mind that she has to run a small shop selling Japanese snacks while having other heavy responsibilities. do support her.

The property is set 700 metres from Kumano Hayatama Taisha, less than 1 km from Shingu Castle Ruins Park and 13 km from Fudarakusanji Temple. The guest house features family rooms. Our stay at Temple Hotel was unforgettable, blending smooth check-in with authentic Japanese hospitality. The kind monk welcomed us with a tour of his family’s temple grounds, shared local dining tips (his izakaya recommendation was excellent), and generously offered complimentary sake, shochu, and beer, complete with a gas stove for warming drinks. He even guided us in setting up our futon beds. The temple opened at 6am, and we were invited to join his 7am prayer service and participate in rituals like sutra copying. Before we left, he gifted us a meaningful Wagen Aigo souvenir and sent us off with blessings. This stay was a genuine experience of Japanese culture—highly recommended.
