Situated in Huaraz, 500 metres from Estadio Rosas Pampa, Hostal Universal Huaraz features accommodation with a shared lounge, free WiFi, a 24-hour front desk, and room service. The guest house has family rooms. The owners are very nice! They arranged everything for us during our stay (good price), including tours, earlier breakfast etc. Also had a (very) early check in after a night bus. Location directly in the city center with the street market in the same street, but no noise. Hotel is just perfect to stay in Huaraz.

They were very accommodating with our last minute booking request and made sure we found the place and were fed. The room was clean and cozy (exactly as advertised!). The beds were incredibly comfortable and perhaps the most comfortable pillows we've experienced in 7 months in South America! The house is very welcoming, and the people that work here are lovely; kind, caring, helpful, and went out of their way to make sure we were accommodated. The rooftop laundry area is a great addition, and being able to hand-wash our merino and delicates was a great bonus! Wifi was stable and fast, and we loved being able to relax with a movie on Netflix at the end of a long day walk. They very kindly and securely looked after our luggage while we were away on the Santa Cruz trek, and were very helpful with tips and a map of places of interest. They helped us book an early morning taxi to Laguna 69, and even came out with us to make sure we found it! Really nice spot, and genuinely welcoming people!

I was bitten by a dog one evening and the owner offered to drive me to the hospital that night (didn't end up doing that), but then he brought me to the local clinic in the morning and helped explain what happened since we didnt have much Spanish. Extremely grateful for that! Otherwise the place itself was nice too - comfy beds and a spacious room. Breakfast was decent in the morning too. They also allowed us to make a couple.of sandwiches in the evening to bring with us on a tour the following day since we were leaving very early.
