One of the best hostels I have stayed at, ever! The rooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable, there are two rooftop terraces with views of the surrounding city and volcanoes, as well as hammocks, and a kitchen and chill areas downstairs too. Location is great -- right beside a main church and about 10-15 from the central downtown square. Lots of good little restaurants around (there is an amazing crepe place called Luna de miel that we visited multiple times), and you're close enough to walk up to the mirador in about 25-45 minutes depending on your speed. The breakfast is legendary (one of the best hostel breakfast I've had in 50+ countries of travel) and changes a bit every day -- freshly made fried or scrambled eggs, INCREDIBLE beans, tomatoes, potatoes, fresh fruit, bread, and then some kind of carb like oatmeal or pancakes or french toast. It is so filling and feels very healthy and balanced as well. Staff is AMAZING. Gaby, Brenda, Andrea, Juan Pablo María and Lily were folks we saw every day and they were so friendly and helpful every time we spoke. I know we also interacted with other lovely staff whose names we didn't get. You're just guaranteed excellent, friendly interactions and help from the people who work here. We came back three times and each time it felt like coming home. It definitely sets a high standard for any hostel or hotel. We'll look forward to returning again one day!

We had a really nice stay at Mazaryk. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable for a great price. It’s quiet and out of town but not too far walking distance. The kitchen was great to cook your own meals in and there’s a nice terrace to chill and watch the sunset on. Really friendly staff who went above and beyond. Thanks again Fernando, Fernanda and Jose :)

There were multiple communal areas to work and to chill. It was always clean and tidy. The breakfast included was really good and tasty. The staff was super friendly and helpful beyond measures. They also safely stored my luggage, which is a big plus when traveling. The beds and bathroom facilities were comfortable and private. The WIFI was of high-quality and stable to work as a digital nomad. The hostel was away from the busy, noisy center square. They assist with shuttles and with tours and any another information you might need.

The hostel has a good location and the curtains in the beds make the difference to make some privacy. I needed to leave earlier one day for a tour and they let us to grab breakfast before the normal time. Sandra was very helpful to me. I asked for tips for restaurants etc and she would give me the information I needed. Also, the shuttles booked through the hostel have a honest price. Be in mind that in Guatemala the prices vary from place to place. After climbing Acatenango, I returned to the hostel for shower (paid a fee, of course, as I didn't have any reservation that time) and asked for help to get a shuttle, as all contacts that I had tried were full. Sandra was very kind and made some calls, managing to find one for me in the last-minute.

Looking for a hostel?

Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.

Stunning hostel, really beautifully designed (the bathrooms were just divine) along with the communal areas and bunk beds. It was in a great location so a short walk to the main spots in Antigua.

Definitely one of the best hostels I've stayed in. Having your own private space in the pod is so much better than a typical bunk bed. The open air common area is quite nice, and the facilities are top tier. Lots of available toilets and by far the best shower I've had on this trip. Also lovely staff members who remember you by name!

One of the best, if not the best, hostel I've been to. Privacy with curtains in bunk beds. Very helpful and friendly staff. Clean facilities and great location. Amazing breakfast and possibility to take breakfast to go if you have to leave early. Very good value/price. Highly recommend!

Absolutely fantastic hostel. Highly recommend staying here. Great location. Great breakfast. And the best hostel staff iv ever come across in my 8 years of backpacking. The girls working here are fantastic, very friendly and extremely helpful and speak fluent English. I saw the bathrooms being cleaned trough out the day. Quite after 10pm so everyone can get sleep before doing hikes. Also thier website is great if you need to book tours/shuttles in advance.

Ojalá is absolutely beautiful and probably the best hostel/hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The facilities are amazing, the bathrooms were so clean and the water was hot. The property is lovely and so well maintained. The locker under the beds of the 8bed dorm is spacious for big backpacks. The provided breakfast is also really nice. It’s so cheap and affordable for what is provided 10/10 recommend and would stay here again if I came back to Antigua. The staff were also super friendly and helpful with any questions.
