The location is perfect, in the centre of Arugam Bay, with many restaurants, spas and beach enterings nearby. The staff was the best - the owner is truly an amazing and helpful person. It's also great that you can rent a board, buy a lesson with a surfing instructor or organise safari trips with the staff in the hotel and the service is always on point. In the room there is everything you may need, there is also a shared kitchen, a clothes dryer and a shower outside which is convenient after surfing or if you want to cool your drinks in the fridge. The room is comfy and very clean (they also do the cleaning every 2 days), and the AC works well, the bed is also big. Would totally recommend :)

Loved the vibe and the staff incl Hetti! They’re all very friendly and helpful. Amazing location as it is on the strip and close to all other spots. They have a super bar at the location as well with events on different nights so you don’t even need to go out if you don’t want to.

It had only just opened its doors and we were met with the warmest welcome from the manager who couldn’t do enough for us. Always went out of his way to accommodate us - sharing extra phone data with us, allowing late check - out due to work commitments, updating us to the air-con room because the fan room was under renovations but with no extra charge. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you so so much

The best hostel in Arugam bay, very social and close to the surfing points and the beach and also walking distance from most of the good restaurants and bars. The staff are very friendly and helpful and they have lots of options for eating and drinking, specially the cheesecake that owner of the place makes is amazing:) They also give you a 1.5 liter water bottle for free which is refillable. Highly recommended!

We stayed at Surfing Tusker for 2 nights as a group of 5 and had an absolutely incredible experience. The property is brand new — we were their very first guests, and everything was spotless, spacious and thoughtfully designed. The rooms were bright, airy and comfortable and the staff (including the owners) were exceptionally friendly, obliging and genuinely warm people who made us feel right at home. The rooftop, Salt and Sky is easily the best rooftop in Arugambay. It offers panoramic views of both the lagoon and the ocean, and the sunset from up there was magical. The location is ideal, right on the main strip but tucked away just enough to give you peace and quiet when you need it. Whether you’re looking for a social hostel vibe or a relaxed hotel experience, Surfing Tusker caters to both short and long stays perfectly. Highly recommend this gem - we’ll definitely be back!

Agra is the best hostel in Arugam Bay. Nalaka is such an amazing host, he gets to know everyone in the hostel and makes it feel like a home. The breakfast and coffee is 10/10 and the family dinner on a Friday is a great way to meet everyone. It’s a lovely chill but social vibe. I loved it so much I came back a second time for a week.

Little lagoon hostel was the perfect little get away at the end of Arugam bay. Great location and a wonderful part of Sri Lanka. My best hostel on my trip through Sri Lanka. Nalaka and his crew are great hosts. The included breakfast is delicious and they will help you find tours, surf lessons or onward travel. Great little social hostel. I extended several times because I enjoyed the hostel-vibe and arugam bay totally.

Agra hostel is one of the best hostel i stayed in while traveling for over 7 weeks in Sri Lanka. The owner is one of a kind and made such good memories that will stay for life! The dorms are clean and the beds are really comfortable, close to the main road and the beach but still quiet so you can enjoy your rest after a long day of enjoying Arugam Bay.

Best hostel I’ve stayed so far in Sri Lanka as a solo backpacker. I loved the low key location away from the hustle and bustle. It was only 10 mins walk into town and with bicycles provided aswell as a travel option it was well worth it to stay here. The staff are all very lovely and love a chat. They kept the space very clean and cozy for all of us staying there. It felt like a home rather than a pit stop which I loved. I’d most definitely look forward to coming back on my future trips!
