I absolutely loved Barefoot Inn! The rooms are beautiful, well equipped, clean and very spacious. The owner is one of the best hosts I’ve ever had – extremely kind, welcoming and super helpful. Their Sri Lankan breakfast was delicious. The location is a bit further out, up a little hill, but I’d say totally walkable. I walked up an down both days of my stay, and honestly prefer the quietness it offered in bustling Kandy. Definitely worth the money & would gladly stay again. Thanks so much!

The hosts are incredible, they meet you with a welcome drink, provide home cooked meals for breakfast lunch and dinner with produce from their garden, currency exchange, laundry, tips and advice, answer any questions and can provide lifts into town. Nothing is too much trouble and they want you to have the best stay. The property is beautiful with amazing views of the hills and the facilities are very clean and private. While you eat in their home with them, the dorm and bathroom is in a separate building that also has privacy. The room has lockers and mosquito nets for each bunk and there is fast WiFi. There is also a fan in the room and drinking water available free of charge.

Staying with Bunty's family was like being with my own. He was super responsive from the very beginning and came to pick me up to the station upon arrival. I took the apartment as I was going to be working for quite a few hours a day and I wanted space, a desk and good connection (and great view) and it was a great choice. The room is spacious, full of light (no curtains to the exterior) and a little terrace ideal to have a tea and enjoy sunrise or sunset. The house itself is beautiful and has a garden outside if you also want to have a tea or your b'fast. I got different b'fast every day (my favourite was the "pitu" with curry) and they adapted to my hours, as every day was slightly changing. The family lives in the house and they are very discreet and lovely. Anusha helped me also with the understanding of the SriLankan cuisine and made incredible dishes. We also had fabulous chats and she taught me how to do some recipes. I extended my stay because I really loved it and could have been there for a long time. Bunty also helped with an issue with the router and, while being fixed, he lent me some data from a hotspot. it's all about finding solutions and helping constantly! He even dropped me off at the station at 4.45 am the day I left!! That's kindness!! Hospitality out of the ordinary and a fabulous place to stay! Thanks for treating me like familiy!!

I had an amazing stay at Funk Bunks – Mount View Lodge. The location is a bit outside of the city center, but that adds to the charm. It's quiet, scenic, and a perfect escape. The rooms were spotless and comfortable, and hot water was available in the showers. The hospitality from the owner and staff was beyond expectations – very friendly and always willing to help. There's also a small on-site restaurant with great food at affordable prices. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Kandy, especially solo travelers. Would definitely return!

Everything was great. I received all the explanation at the beginning with good recommendations. It really felt like I was at a family members’ house and you could just feel at home there. They even have given me some tea to drink in the morning with some jambu fruit once. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are very clean. You need to pay for the AC but I didn’t mind because the fans were enough already. They have a beautiful rooftop as well. Location is very well situated.

Great location in the heart of Kandy City, clean and peaceful property with lovely hill views. Close to main attractions, and the staff were very friendly and helpful
