My party of 5 total stayed only one night when hiking the Magome to Nagiso section of the Nakasendo. Proximity to train station and Nakasendo trail was the original selling point, but we fell in love with the place as soon as our host toured us around. It feels like staying at an artsy bed and breakfast, except you provide the breakfast and you get the entire place to yourself. There's small, delightful touches of personality and hospitality every where you look. We did not want for anything. Our sweet host met us at the front door to enter data from our passports and then gave us a walk through of the building. Two toilets and two showers was perfect for a group of 5. Fridge and other kitchen appliances work great. We listened to the CD disc player on the wall while reading the books and it was a lovely experience.The futons were placed very thoughtfully according to our parties needs. In addition to the trail and train station, there's a grocery store, a historic bridge and a cafe all within a couple minutes walk. The patios were a great hang out spot and we saw monkeys near the river around 7am. Honestly, I wish we had stayed longer but our plans dictated we move on. Next time we will try to book a few more nights so we can explore the area more!

Start and end of lift timings. Gas, Bianca and Liam are really nice people to talk to. Great dinner as well. Super affordable accoms. Location might be a turn off but don't hesitate to ask the staff about getting a ride to town in the afternoon if you're not heading to the slopes in the morning.

The location of this place is certainly a highlight, as it is close to the temple, main street, many restaurants and bus stations.

There are large sofas and a big TV in the lounge area, making it a perfect place to kick back and relax after spending a day on the ski slopes or hiking the trails. From accommodating the couple in our group to a shared location, to driving us to and from our car rental and suggesting the most amazing soba restaurant.
