So many amazing details here, this really feels like a home base. The kitchen is incredibly well-equipped and spacious, you can make simple or elaborate meals. There's a spice rack of 20+ seasonings, sunflower oil, olive oil & garlic provided for free. Breakfast has a lot of options, and they serve a cake every day at 5pm. There are lots of great areas to relax in, the terrace has a beautiful view of the volcanoes and equipment for a basic workout or yoga practice. The beds are super comfy, I really appreciated having two pillows! There are curtains on the bunks and multiple sockets by the shelf with a light and a little fan. The showers have soap and moisturizer. Also great WiFi for video calls. It's definitely not a party hostel, (it feels like a place where people come to relax for a few days+), but everyone is still friendly and chatty. I extended my stay twice!

Situé à San Cristóbal de Las Casas, l’établissement Posada del Abuelito (Hostel) comprend un jardin, un salon commun, une terrasse et une connexion Wi-Fi gratuite dans l’ensemble de ses locaux. The whole place is just so cute. You come inside and smell the Jasmin flowers. We arrived at 5 in the morning from the night bus and one of the ladies working there welcomed us very friendly. The several courtyards are wonderfully decorated and there are several places to sit - in the shade but also on terraces. The women in the kitchen are just amazingly warm people, greeting you with a smile and even preparing breakfast for you at 4 in the morning. The staff is incredibly helpful and tries to find a solution for everything - one of them walked with us around in the neighborhood to find an open lavanderia on a Sunday. We would definitely stay here again. The only thing I would recommend is to bring a hot water bottle as it can get cold at night - but this is just because I am a person that gets cold easily.

I had a great time at Elmar, if you’re looking for a chill vibe but still social - this is the place. The two girls and the guy who work there that I met were super nice, and they arranged activities like yoga, meditation, etc. Very clean and spacious dorms. You also get a towel and laundry for free, which is really appreciated as a backpacker! Breakfast nice and extra plus for having Oatly! :) I can highly recommend this place!

Quiet at night but easily walkable to town and other locations. Bed could be more comfortable and spaces are tight but good value for holbox. Friendly people, nice vibes
