Great Lakes Region Renowned as one of the most popular National Parks in NSW, Myall Lakes is a stunning fusion of lakes, coastal forests, more than 40kms of pristine beaches and an expansive sand dune system. Internationally recognised for its wetland ecology, it features one of the state’s largest coastal lake systems and offers water enthusiasts endless opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, boating and fishing. On land, exploring Mungo Brush, the Dark Point sand dunes and the Tops to Myall’s Heritage Trail are a must. Blueys Beach Famed for being the beach which guarantees a good wave, Blueys is undoubtedly a favourite with surf enthusiasts and those who enjoy a stretch of secluded sand with incredible views. Said to have gained its unusual name due to a cattle mishap enroute to Yarric Mountain (the hill on the southern end of Blueys Beach), locals proudly proclaim this to be one of the world’s finest beaches. Offering protected corners for those who want to watch the swell from afar, this lush stretch of coastline is framed by forest-covered headlands and nestled between Sandbar Beach to the south, and Boomerang Beach to the north. The Myall Lakes National Park boasts more than 40kms of pristine sandy beaches, protected hardwood forests, internationally recognised Ramsar wetlands, rugged escarpments, endless tracks and trails and the spectacular Broughton Island. ‘Must see’ spots within the park include Mungo Brush, Seal Rocks, the Dark Point sand dunes and the ‘Tops to Myalls’ Heritage Trail.
