Tarndie is short for "Tarndwarncoort" - a family farm continually owned and run by the Dennis family since 1840. It is a working sheep farm where the family grow wool for hand-craft. Guests can learn all about Australia's wool industry and buy some estate-grown yarns to make that unique holiday souvenir. Guests have 60 acres to roam around on, including the gardens of historic Tarndwarncoort homestead - one of Victoria's oldest surviving buildings.
Tom is the 6th generation to run Tarndie and he enjoys sharing the place with visitors who are interested in heritage, using their hands to make things and stories over coffee in the courtyard.
The Otway Hinterland sits between the Great Ocean Road to the south and the Victorian Volcanic Plains to the north. It is home to a number of small villages and larger towns, and many waterfalls, walking trails, food & wine, curious shops and not many other visitors. It's a region ripe for discovery and magic!
