Attention to detail. The stonework and all the furniture and decore. The “summer” room outside where we watched the sunrise and sunset.

Everything about Trestrail Cottage is special and we hope to make your stay unforgettable in many ways. Lots of touches have been added ahead of your stay to personalise the space, from the welcome note, the local knowledge provided or just the attention to detail from booking to departing. It's all about unwinding, relaxing, connecting with each other and noticing the little natural wonders in the environment. Please note: The Aussie/Swedish hot-rock sauna is only available May through to Dec. (unavailable during the fire danger season) The Summer bed is only available from Dec to May and is weather dependent. All year round you may like to soak in the claw foot bath, wander the animal tracks, become absorbed in the library of history, meditate, watch the fire flicker and enjoy some delicious local produce. Our property is home to rare Red Stringybark gum trees as protected in the Clare Valley Spring Gully Conservation park next door. Whatever takes your fancy you just have to dedicate some time to relax and explore.
Welcome!! Trestrail Cottage was created by Vivian Ziersch who was inspired 25 years ago by the native bush land setting and the freedom and privacy that the property offers. It has evolved over those years but the same philosophy stands. We offer our accommodation to like-minded guests who dare to unplug and indeed, feel the need to reconnect with the simplest of pleasures in life. We adore the stringy barks, the wildlife, the views, the fog, the sounds of nature and the stillness that relaxes beyond belief. And, it is with our pleasure that we share this property with you so you too, can enjoy the naturally beautiful space that it is.
The Clare Valley is a humble picturesque part of the Mid North dotted with cellar doors, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Trestrail Cottage sits in heart of the valley near Sevenhill, home of Skillogallee, Sevenhill Cellars, Mitchell Wines, and Spring Gully Conservation Park. The Riesling Trail is perfect for exploring via bikes and is within easy 5 minutes drive from the cottage. Markets pop up on the weekends in the little towns, pubs and wineries often host live music in garden settings and the cellar doors host an array of local delights. So much to discover!!
