We are located in the heart of Toledo's Jewish Quarter, a place where you can relive the splendor of the Jewish era and visit its impressive monuments. The most notable are the only two surviving synagogues: the Synagogue of El Tránsito and Santa María la Blanca, both of which have since been converted into Catholic churches. Between these two synagogues lies the house of a wealthy Jewish man. It is said that its owner, the Jew Ishaq, helped finance Columbus’s voyage to the Indies by lending money to Queen Isabella in exchange for her jewels. Just about 100 meters away, you’ll find the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes, built by order of the Catholic Monarchs and considered one of the finest examples of Spanish-Flemish Gothic architecture. In the same neighborhood, you can visit the house and workshop of sculptor Victorio Macho, now a museum. Its location, overlooking the cliffs of the Tagus River, is truly impressive. Just 40 meters away, a must-see stop is The El Greco House and Museum, which displays highly valuable works of art. Not far from the neighborhood, you’ll also find Santo Tomé Church, where you can admire El Greco’s masterpiece: The Burial of the Count of Orgaz.
