Our comfortable cottage is set in a beautiful walled garden in Mazamet with private lockable access & adjacent street parking. It is an easy 5 minute walk to the local farmers' markets, and shops and restaurants are close by, as are delightful walks in the mountains. 10 minutes drive from a beautiful mountain lake for swimming and relaxing. Close to the railway station & 4 airports - Toulouse, Castres, Beziers & Carcassonne. Good access either by car or public transport to other cultural towns in Occitane for museums, galleries, tourist sites and shopping. The cottage is south facing with double doors opening onto the garden from each room (see photos). There are fully working shutters to all the doors. There is a mature garden with an outside table and chairs so that you can enjoy your meals in the open air. There is a fully equipped kitchen and we provide sheets and towels for your visit. The cottage bedroom has recently been renovated and a beautiful local chestnut floor has been laid, with painted pine paneling added to the walls, making this a very comfortable and calm room to stay in.
We are delighted to be able to host your stay here in Mazamet! It is a pleasure to be able to share some of the wonderful things about this area with our guests. We are both keen walkers, so can help you plan walks if you like. We are primarily artists working here in the main house where we have our studios. We currently make paintings, drawings and silver jewelry - there are examples of the paintings in the gite, and if you are interested, we will be pleased to invite you to our studios. The cottage is adjacent to our home, and while we are pleased to help you with any questions you have about your trip, we will not disturb your time here unnecessarily.
Mazamet is small working town set under the Montagne Noire National Park. There are many restaurants in town and the surrounding area which are mentioned in the cottage guide book. There is a new Passerelle in Mazamet ( a footbridge over the deep river valley) connecting the Mazamet hills with the medieval hill village of Hautpoul. The views from the bridge are wonderful!
