This historic Grade II listed semi-detached property sits in the Snowdonia National Park, below Dolwyddelan Castle built by Llywelyn Fawr. There are wood and slate floors throughout and a lovely half panelled lounge for relaxing in. There’s a fantastic large lawned garden, perfect for kids to run off energy! Dolwyddelan is a great base for walkers, explore the hidden valley of Cwm Penamnen, or catch the train to the next station at Betws y Coed and walk back! There’s a pub within walking distance, and this property is only five miles from Betws-y-Coed, the gateway to Snowdonia, featuring Zip World Fforest, a fabulous tree top adventure trail, or you can visit Blaenau Ffestiniog, home to the largest zip wire zone in the world and the amazing Bounce Below where you can bounce deep underground on trampoline netting in a huge slate cavern. Also at Blaenau Ffestiniog is the terminus of the famous Ffestiniog Railway, where you can catch a narrow gauge steam train on the spectacular journey down to the coast at Porthmadog. It also boasts a mountain and freeride bike trails, including the Marin Trail. 20 minutes drive away is Yr Wyddfa ('Snowdon') Wales' highest peak. Dare you walk it??
We are a local Welsh speaking family - Dylan, Carys and Llywelyn - who are hugely proud to be the first owners on both cottages for over a century. We love travelling and meeting travellers and love exchanging stories and information with guests from all corners of the world.
Dolwyddelan, Betws y Coed and Blaenau Ffestiniog are the surrounding areas are historically amongst the richest in Wales and offer stunning scenery and wildlife, right in the heart of Snowdonia National park, when most tourist attractions and places to see are found within an hour's (car) drive away.
