Coylumbridge Cottage is our family holiday home. The original cottage was built in 1875, over the years it has had two large extensions added to it. The cottage sits on the banks of the River Druie, the plot of land measures half an acre. The original Sitting Room (8M x 4.3M) has a timber lined ceiling, original stone walls and a beautiful wood burning fire, it's a really magical room that probably has so many stories to tell about it's history. The Family Room (8M x 5.3M) combines the new with the original old features, it was built in 2006, not only is it a Dining Room that seats up to 8 people, it's a great area to chill out and watch T.V. You may even see our friendly red squirrel in the garden through the patio doors. The Boot Room (2.6M x 2.3M) provides a cloakroom for all outdoor apparel. The luxury sized Kitchen (5M x 4.1M) has all the appliances that you would require, that is if you actually intended to cook. The farm stone floor compliments the country style. We have 2 x Shower Rooms, one downstairs and one upstairs. There are 3 x Bedrooms, King (4.2M x 3.5M) + Twin (3.7M x 3.3M) + Double (3.6M x 3.6M). Please note - Cleaning services are not provided during your stay.
Welcome to our beautiful holiday cottage, our little slice of heaven in the Highlands. We bought the cottage in October 2010 and over the next few years refurbished it to a very high standard. The back garden is completely enclosed and is extremely child friendly, it's a popular location for lots of family fun and games. We spend quite a fair bit of time in Coylumbridge with our grandchildren, family and friends, I think it's called "escapism", whatever it's called we enjoy it. I'm a member of the Boat o' Garten golf club, a fantastic location for a round of golf, the views are breathtaking, you can even spot the odd Osprey or Golden Eagle flying overhead. If golf is your sport, there are lots of interesting courses in the area, my advice would be to bring lots of extra golf balls as the heather can be knee deep. I would also recommend Kingussie Golf Course, the views are just incredible. We have been hosting our cottage over the past 12 years and the comments we have received from our guests have been extremely positive, we have enjoyed the challenge of letting it out, the communications and the maintaining of the high standards we initially set. Our cottage is located on the B970, 13kms. from the Cairngorm Ski Resort in the Cairngorms National Park, the Park covers 4,528 sq. kms. and hosts so many outdoor activities. A trip up the ski slopes on the Funicular Railway highlights spectacular views especially in winter. We would recommend you check out their website, you can book lots of activities ranging from clay shooting to a Steam Loco trip, whatever floats your boat or train! Loch an Eilein was voted the best picnic site in the UK a few years ago, take a look at their website, the location is beautiful and don't forget your picnic and maybe a cheeky wee bottle of vino! Loch Morlich is only 7kms. from our front door, heading towards the Ski Resort, it actually has a very sandy beach and is home to a Watersports Centre with kayaking, sailing and windsurfing. Pop into the Pine Martin at Glenmore for a coffee or a beer whilst you're there. The Polar Bears in the Highland Wildlife Park in Kingussie? It's 3kms to Aviemore, it has so many good restaurants, pubs and cafes and for the kids, a trip to the Landmark Adventure Park in Carrbridge it's only 13 kms. by car, take a picnic, it's a wonderful day out.
