Whilst staying in the area you must visit the former coal mining town of Midsomer Norton. Famous for its nursery rhymes and a certain television series, the historic town if bustling with cafes and restaurants. Walkers will certainly enjoy the lanes edged with ancient stone walls and footpaths crossing scenic countryside. For urban interest the elegant city of Bath is just eleven miles away and lively Bristol twelve. Wells, reputed to be the smallest city in England, can be reached in less than twenty minutes. It remains remarkably unspoilt and boasts many historic buildings including the magnificent 13th century cathedral, which hosts an excellent music programme throughout the year. Wookey Hole and the spectacular Cheddar Gorge, offering caves, witches and cheese, are only a 30 minute drive away.
