A two bedroom holiday cottage in the beautiful village of Finchingfield, situated near the windmill on the historic causeway, the location provides delightful views over the village green and the large duck pond. The property boasts heavily beamed rooms and also has a delightful inglenook fireplace in the lounge. Also on the ground floor is a nice sized dining room complete with table and seating for all guests, a compact galley kitchen and downstairs bathroom. Upstairs, the property has a double bedroom, complete with built in wardrobe, and a second bedroom with two single beds. Outside, Millie’s cottage has a pretty garden to the rear, complete with patio and barbecue area, space to store bikes and an outside store which houses the washing machine and an additional large fridge freezer to keep all of those essential holiday refreshments.
Visit Essex describes Finchingfield as the 'most photographed village in England' and has won awards for its traditional picturesque setting. The combination of duck pond, village green, hump-backed bridge and pub, overlooked by colour-washed cottages, windmill and a medieval church, give it an unbeatable series of views, which are often found on calendars, chocolate boxes, tea towels, postcards and jigsaws. Millie's Cottage is named after the owner’s grandmother who lived in the cottage with her husband Ernie in the early 1900’s. Ernie was a local farm worker and Millie was a house keeper at Brick House, the property situated near the pond. The cottage has remained in the family and the owners father, Richard, was born here in 1934. Richard was an organ builder and has played the church organ in the village for the last 60 years. If you stay at the cottage you’ll see an example of his handy work, a coat rack made of oak and the manual pulls from an old organ. It is a property which holds many memories for the family who hope you have a chance to enjoy it as much as they have.
Millie’s Cottage is located in the centre of the picturesque village of Finchingfield, only 30 minutes from the M11 and Stansted Airport. It is an ideal location for a weekend getaway or for a family holiday to enjoy the charming nature of the cottage, cycling, country walks, local pubs, tea rooms and restaurants, or for visiting nearby villages, towns and cities such as the historic village of Thaxted, the Roman town of Colchester or the University City of Cambridge.
