About this property

Located in the rolling hills surrounding Esthwaite Water, the village of Hawkshead is home to The Queen’s Head Inn. This 17th Century inn has been awarded an AA 4-star rating for its varied menu, serving the finest local ingredients in a traditional country pub setting. Each bedroom has a modern tiled bathroom and a contemporary design, some feature original beamed ceilings and a four-poster bed. The hotel features free Wi-Fi and each bedroom has an LCD TV. The Queen’s Head serves lunches and dinners ranging from fresh steamed mussels to Cumbrian rib-eye steak. An extensive wine list and local ales are available at the bar, as well as a selection of malt whiskeys. The village of Hawkshead is within a 10-minute drive of both Coniston Water and Windermere, and within 15 minutes by car, hikers can be at the feet of the renowned central Lakeland fells.

The Queens Head Inn and Restaurant has been welcoming weary travellers for over 300 years. Fully re-furbished in 2012 we are now a quaint village inn that packs a punch! Come and see what all the fuss is about, you wont regret it! Breakfast is included in the rates provided. Parking is at the pay and display, a two minute walk away.

Hawkshead is a village and civil parish in Cumbria, England, which attracts tourists to the South Lakeland area. The parish includes the hamlets of Hawkshead Hill, 1.2 miles (1.9 km) to the north west, and Outgate, a similar distance north. Hawkshead contains one primary school but no secondary school and four public houses including The Queens Head. The township of Hawkshead was originally owned by the monks of Furness Abbey; nearby Colthouse derives its name from the stables owned by the Abbey.
