Lovely hosts, very thoughtful, left us a bottle of bubbles to celebrate my cousins birthday, which was the reason for the trip. Very quaint house, the beds were all comfortable, and was in a great location for exploring Brixham. Highly recommend.

Our three bedroom fisherman's cottage dates back to 1850 and has all the quirks you would expect of a property this old. It has been updated with central heating, a luxurious bathroom and comfortable beds. Guests have reported how well they have slept. Situated in the conservation area of Brixham, Rose Cottage is roomy with plenty of storage. It sleeps six people with two sunny double bedrooms, and a twin bedroom in the converted attic. Enjoy a walk in shower or a luxurious bath in the deep Victorian tub in the bathroom There is a barbecue for those who have been down to the fish market and fancy al fresco cooking. The kitchen is equipped with all you need for cooking, or just for making cups of tea. There are plenty of great restaurants in Brixham. The dining room boasts a table that sits six people, and a fridge freezer tucked away. The stairs are steep, especially the ones to the attic room, so not suitable for those with restricted mobility. there is a friendly pub just down the road where you will be able to get a pint after a long day on the beach, or the south west coastal path. There is a television, radio, books and childrens' toys for entertainment, everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The kitchen is small but perfectly formed and well equipped with oven, microwave, toaster and plenty of crockery and pots and pans. Glasses for the sauvignon From the dining room you can access a small terrace. In the morning it's a real sun trap, sheltered from the wind, with table and chairs and umbrella for summer dining. The cottage is centrally heated and very cosy in the winter months and cool and airy in the summer. The entrance to the sitting room is through the stable door, which you can keep open and feel like part of the neighbourhood. Three sofas mean seats for everybody around a coffee table where you can play games or snack, or just read the Sunday newspapers.
We are a group of friends who own Rose Cottage, Sara is a photographer and photography teacher, Nick is an artist and Fliss is and artist and maker.
Wake up up to the sound of seagulls wheeling over the town. Trawler boats sounding horns as they head out to sea for a fresh catch of fish. Brixham fish is big business. Seafood chef and local restaurateur Mitch Tonks sums it up nicely: "Brixham is the home of British fishing. This is the British mother port." We are close to town, just five minute walk to the harbour a great place to sit and watch to water night or day. Totnes and Dartmouth are close by. It's a hard working Devon town with a fascinating history. There's a lovely walk along the harbour past the Marina to the Berry Head Hotel, and beyond that to Berry Head itself. The Guardian recently described Brixham as the 'Naples' of the English Riviera! It has all amenities, co op chemists, charity shops, a fabulous Vinyl record shop the Cavern, and an amazing camera shop Miffsuds Photographic. For new, second hand and vintage cameras. Brixham is at the far end of Torbay and is in the lee of Berry Head. This combined with the famous Brixham Breakwater ensures that Brixham is a sheltered port and a natural shelter. The beaches are found in coves, are secluded, less prone to overcrowding on busy periods and have more of a rocky coastline to explore. Rockpools, fishing and a quiet time can all be enjoyed by taking those extra few minutes to get to the beach. BEACHES & COVES Broadsands is within 2 miles of Brixham. It is one of the most extensive gently sloping beaches in the Bay, with lots of parking and all facilities. This beach can be reached by a short car journey or, by a walk along the South West coastal path. This also takes in Churston & Elberry cove and Broadsands headland and makes a great day out for the active! Further south around Berry Head, the beaches of the South Hams beckon, Man Sands, beautiful Blackpool sands and magnificent Slapton Sands.
